Nintendo expects the Switch to continue strong for the next few years, has "strong lineup" of upcoming games

dsdadsdsa.png

Doug Bowser, CEO of Nintendo of America, discussed the Nintendo Switch and plans for the future, in an interview with the Associated Press. Even though the Nintendo Switch is seven years old now, Bowser is confident that the console will continue to perform well, with Nintendo "feeling bullish" about sales. According to him, there's also a "very very strong lineup" of games coming soon, teasing that Nintendo will plan on supporting the Switch for years to come. Beyond that, when asked about whether or not Nintendo has a "Switch Pro" in the works, he simply responded with, "One of the things we look at always is how can we surprise and delight. How can we introduce new unique ways of playing. That´s always in front of our mind."

I should be careful about what I personally would like to see (in a new Switch). But what I can share is that one of the reasons that even going into year seven we feel very confident that the Switch can have a strong performance over the next few years is that it is still truly that unique device that you can play in a variety of ways, at home, on the go. One of the things we look at always is how can we surprise and delight. How can we introduce new unique ways of playing. That’s always in front of our mind.

Of course they'll keep on relying on the Switch. They can barely make any new game to support it so how could they possibly support a new system, I'm quite sure the Switch will be Nintendo's last console (or second to last at best). They'll just keep on releasing upscaled ports of their Wii/Gamecube catalog (they already exhausted the Wii U catalog), until they have nothing left to release. Maybe they'll try to upscale N64 games after that.

👏👏👏 Yes,YES! Let's go back to the Blue Ocean strategy. We need creative games, experimental games, more motion games and YES even a few more VR titles. These last 4 years of the Switch has so much potential. Let's just leave the rat race of PlayStation vs XBox and take a hard left and never turn back! :grog:

Whenever Nintendo says that they expect their console to “stay strong for the next couple of years”, that’s your indication that they’re actively working on something else and they’re slowly approaching the warehouse clearing stage. In 2010 Nintendo started shipping the Wii with a Wii Remote with MotionPlus and unleashed a bevy of bundles to entice buyers. In 2011 they announced the Wii U. I’m seeing the same pattern here with the growing number of limited editions and the strong assurances of longevity. I’m only surprised that we haven’t seen a stopgap console yet. I give the Switch another 2-3 years at best.

they have zero competition in the "proper" gaming mobile market rn (no, the steam deck doesn't count nobody but nerds are aware of its existence) and chips will take a few years to drop in price so it makes sense.

car manufacturers at one point were mass-purchasing washing machines and dryers to salvage components just last year so it isn't really feasible to try and mass produce a new handheld anytime soon.

The CEO of NOA believes their Nintendo console is going to have "strong sales"?! Wow, I'm shocked! Next you'll be telling me the CEO of Playstation believes the PS5 will have strong sales!

AAA devs will probably start pulling out when downgrading their games for Switch stops being feasible, but if Nintendo really does have a strong lineup planned for the next few years, along with continued third-party support from indies and such, they could pull it off.

So that means forget about a Switch two, not even one with more Ram.

Well maybe one with more Rsm it wouldn't be hard to fo but who would buy a Switch for 400 bucks when that's the price of a Steam deck or ith some money more you can finally get a PS5 or Xbox you name it?

The switch is actually only 6 years and 10 days old. Not 7.
Nintendo consoles generally have a lifespan of six years before the next one is released.

So that means forget about a Switch two, not even one with more Ram.
That would be unusual considering they normally release a new one after 6 or so years. Plus, the hardware of the Switch struggles with new games.

Until they can offer HDR OLED 1440p raytracing with DLSS 3.0 tech then dont bother with a refresh
Still waiting for a PS5 exclusive that makes use of raytracing and the other features they brag about. 😆

My two years old smartphone have bigger screen and emulates switch. I hate that Nintendo slows down gaming industry.
Yeah, newer smartphones are more powerful than the Switch. Kind of embarrassing.
