How does Microsoft ban?

Background: I want to buy Jet Set Radio from Xbox 360 Marketplace (since it is not in the normal store). To do that I need my LiteTouch (iExtreme) flashed 360.

For console mods alone, I've only heard of console bans but you can never say with 100% what MS will do.

It may be that an older firmware will be more easily detected, but I base that on the last ban wave I recall.

When you say 'normal store', do you mean it wasn't available physically?

So there are no account bans? I wonder what would happen to the digitally owned games then.

Consoles are banned in the various ban waves for the 360. If it is only a DVD mod then I have similarly not heard of those being banned in many years, most bans these days being for JTAG/RGH and trying to go online without suitable precautions.

Profiles tend to only be banned when you did something silly in video chat or whatever, or you used a dodgy credit card/attempted some kind of chargeback. They may also be troubled if you use a profile modding tool to do various things (that possibly only work on a JTAG/RGH). I have no idea if a console ban sees you make it onto some kind of list in Microsoft HQ as some kind of troublemaker but hey.
