'Alone in the Dark' gets release date and main cast reveal

alone in the dark.jpg

After its announcement last year, we now have more details about the Alone in the Dark reboot. In particular, it was revealed that the game will let players choose between two protagonists: Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby, played by Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) and David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow), respectively. This choice will influence the point of view of the story that players experience. A Spotlight trailer was aired to provide some new peeks at the game as well as the release date:

Return to the roots of survival horror in this Spotlight for Alone in the Dark! Illuminate the darkness and uncover the secrets of Derceto Manor. Depending on who you play, you will get a different take on the same story. You can see both of them in action in the new spotlight video, showcasing a ton of gameplay.

Alone in the Dark will launch on October 25th on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and PS5 for €59.99 / $59.99 / £49.99.

I hope they make a remake of the 2nd part, it's a cult game, iconic, really enjoyed it when it came out and graphics for that time were so ahead of time, put resident evil and silent Hill to shame.

I'm hyped, but skeptical... some of the entries in the franchise have been shitty. The trailer makes this seem like it might be a bit too inspired by modern Resident Evil games.

Too bad the entry that got out on the x360/ps3/Wii era bombed.
It was a great experience and a bit too harshly branded because of the car controls.
Would have liked to see where that one would go storywise.
They should advance the story and make a true sequel.

Having not played the original so i have no idea what to expect, i just don't want this to be an RE or SH clone, taking an inspiration for certain is expected, but it has to bring something new to the table (gameplay-wise or else) for it to stand out (&be unique).
From the looks of it it looks there's some care & thought put into this, hope doesn't suck, for the sake of the franchise.

Big fan of the series. Even the 2008 game that had a few different versions. PS3 "Inferno" version was different than the 360 version with some bugs fixed, improved camera control, better inventory management, tighter driving, etc. Then there was the PS2 & Wii version that are a near completely different game from the PS3 & 360 versions.

@Indy13 I'll be trying the demo tonight and will post with what I think.

No, but that was a port from a game released in 2015.
it's also a port a significantly bigger, more graphically intensive one. There have been considerably bigger, better looking, great performing games that have been ported to switch just fine. If they really wanted to, they could have. It's alone in the dark, not resident evil 4 remake lol

You do realise that RE and SH technically are Alone in the Dark clones? Alone in the Dark is considered the grandfather of survival horror :)
