Serial Loops
An Editor for Suzumiya Haruhi no Chokuretsu (The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya)
Link

Current version: v0.2
Hi folks! I realized I didn't post about this on our initial release, so I'm posting about it now (as we release v0.2).

Serial Loops is a full editing suite for the 2009 Nintendo DS game Suzumiya Haruhi no Chokuretsu (The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya). In its final form, it will essentially act as a visual novel engine for the Nintendo DS, allowing users with skill and creativity to tell whatever story they wish to tell (although we do hope to see a lot of Haruhi stories!).

As of the current release (v0.2), we support:
  • Editing the script files which determine the structure of each scene, with a live preview
  • Editing the scenario, which controls the order in which scripts are loaded
  • Replacing backgrounds (with a crop/resizing tool) and editing the names of CGs as they appear in the extras mode
  • Replacing system textures (UI images mostly, but also things like the title screen)
  • Replacing background music, with functionality to change the volume and loop parameters of each track as well as their names as they appear in the extras mode
  • Replacing voiced lines and (if using the English patched ROM) editing their subtitles
  • Editing character nameplates
  • Editing place names
  • Editing topics, including their names and how much time they gain you in the puzzle phase
  • Editing the UI text
  • Applying pre-defined ROM hacks (such as skipping the OP)
  • Exporting (but not editing/replacing) sprite sheets & GIFs of character sprites
  • Exporting (but not editing/replacing) sprite sheets & GIFs of chibis
  • Viewing (but not yet editing) maps, puzzles, and "group selection" items
  • Editing game banner data, including the icon and title
  • Searching through items, including the ability to search for specific things like dialogue lines
  • Building and running the project from within the editor
We support Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can also see our roadmap for future versions on GitHub.

If you're interested in telling a story with these characters or just want to try giving creating a visual novel on the DS a spin, make sure to check it out!
