This is likely going to be a really stupid idea, first, let me explain.

My Nintendo DS lite came with this universally hated and obscure cartridge, according to the label, it is called the N5 Generation Revolution for DS (www.dsn5.com)

Now, the reasons i assume this cartridge is really terrible is due to them bricking and shorting out DS lite consoles, and just being a low quality clone in general.

And i also assume this cartridge is NOT the variant that shorts out consoles, i think, but just in case, i want to make this cartridge better, and maybe sell it.

Now, i have already taken it apart, and i see a crap ton of components, which i find odd, no DS cartridges (especially flashcarts) needs a lot of components like these, said components might be the so called fuses or chips that shorts out consoles, the solder points with said components are Y1 and U2, Y1 is really dirty and rusty by the way, there may be more, but i will soon take a picture of said flashcart and another flashcart i have, im on School as of right now.

These will be the only changes to the motherboard (for now), i plan on making a custom label and a YSmenu theme for it! (if the cartridge actually supports YSmenu)

Let me know what you all think!

If you're not sure if your N5 card is a bricker, one way is by the SD card slot. If its spring-loaded then avoid it at all costs.
The N5 should be compatible with Wood R4 and YSMenu.

Oh, it is a spring-loaded SD card reader, guess im just hammering it to avoid further damage.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
