Yeah apparently, because of the Wii U, he is interested in making an FPS game. Although that doesn't mean he WILL.
I have nothing to say about this....
I'm rather a bit shocked.
If I remember correctly, he's the one that advised Retro Studios to make Metroid a first person game. So he's got my attention. If he makes an FPS, it will surely be something different from anything we've seen before.

Meh, if he wants to, who cares? Those games sell well. It's a good idea, even if some of us are sick of the FPS invasion.
Since when is it an invasion? It's a popular genre since it was invented and it will remain that way until the end of the world because First Person is immersive.
First Person can be more than just shooters. Just felt a need to clear that up.

I think Miyamoto could make a good FP game like Mirror's Edge, but I don't see how the man hell-bent on innovation could do an FPS that isn't derivative.
using the same flagship titles for over 20 years, coming out with 7 of the same racing game, a whole army of remakes and sequels for zelda and mario, and consoles that have decade-old hardware.
yeah. he don't fuck around with his innovation.lolololol.

i'm curious to see what he has in mind. i'm guessing if he makes an FPS, it won't be targeted at family/children audiences and it will be a hardcore FPS. the only challenge is making it NOT seem like a generic shooter.
then again, most FPS's are different. first person shooters acquired a bad name and have everyone thinking they're all the same because of these wannabe gamer hipsters who run around spouting "hurdyderpadur COD is shit. just because it isn't COD blah blah. *sigh* another COD remake" who obviously don't know shit about first person shooters and should stick to their genre of preference.

just as there are generic RPGs (about 85% of RPGs in existence are cookie cutter weeaboo porn), there are also generic games of any genre. and one made by miyamoto most likely will not be generic.

I'm not a fan of first person games at all so I will definitely have to wait and see what it looks like, if it happens.

Hm.. maybe a new Metroid Prime-like game? WITH GOOD CONTROLS THIS TIME?

Are you implying that Metroid Prime had bad controls?

Oh, you poor fool.
Lol. In his defense, he may have been referring to Metroid Prime: Hunters (which, in my opinion, had decent controls, but definitely wasn't very practical).

Rehashing a character doesn't mean the games weren't fundamentally different. And yeah, hurr hurr, after Sterling panned Mario Kart 7 everyone wants to talk trash about the series like they don't love it. Boo hoo.

The controls of The first 2 Primes were pretty bad, in my opinion. It was very clunky, without the dual analogs, but I can understand due to the fact that you had Visors and other things. I just wished there was another way to implement those things so they worked with dual analogs.
Hunters... was ok. Controls were more precise, but still didn't give a good feel. I ended up using the face buttons. Much better.
And Other M... I'll say it was a bad dream.

no, it doesn't mean they aren't fundamentally different. but it does mean they lack any sort of innovation whatsoever.
and about mario kart, i don't know. i haven't played MK since the one for gamecube. and since then, they all look exactly the same to me.

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.

So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.

@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.
