Awesome! Now this is the "Ultimate" version of Super Mario Advance 4 :D
Not yet!

I still have to figure out how the palette data is stored in the ROM (it's different than Yoshi's Island) so that I can make the Colour restoration. :P
After that is done, THEN it'll be the Ultimate version. xD

I decided to give it a try and yeah, it doesn't seem to work. I managed to find very similar values, but the edits just locked the game on the formatting screen. For now, use GBATA's SRAM patcher. It does work for certain, although I'm not sure what will happen because of the nature of the game and whether or not anything new is actually saved or not.

I replaced
D0 08 8D 83 42 F5 D1 00 24 0E 49 10 68

with
D0 08 8D 83 42 00 00 00 24 0E 49 10 68

The game booted fine. But it seems the save gets corrupted if we use the quick save feature, so it really needs over 64K of flash memory to work properly.

I have been severely depressed lately, but this has really made my day. I just want to thank everyone here for your participation with this (especially the hackers and that TAS guy). Thank you all so much for your efforts, and I hope more projects like this can succeed as well as this one has.
I too have been severely depressed and this helped my mood as well so thank you for all the hard work and money spent on this. It doesn't go unappreciated I assure you. Video games help with my depression and every little bit counts! Even something like this that some may consider meaningless, I don't because it helps.

now I will try to inject a save created by an emulator into the save on the 3DS to see if this will correct the issue, seems to me like the problem is related to initial save creation, rather then general save writing.

He dumped it from RAM, not from the eshop files directly. If you apply the ips patch to a rom you'll get the proper rom dump.

There's a bug in the injector (agbsave9), the author tried to fix it a couple of times, but I guess he had to leave for the time being.
I'm sure he'll fix the bug shortly and once he does I'll be able to inject a save and test.
Well, I played the game a little and it seems it works OK as long as we use only 1 save slot.
Whenever we try to save a second one, the savedata will become corrupted and the old save slot will be deleted.

Well the idea with the 3DS save inject is that the game can't create the save file initially properly, but if I use an existing injected save, it in theory might all work properly with no need for a rom patch.
