I guess I fail to see why a user having CFW would affect the Homebrew Launcher. Clue me in on something I'm missing?
For CFW users I expect a fix will be out fairly soon. Since Smea says that worst case it can be loaded via an arm11 kernel exploit that suggests that it should be possible to update the hbl cia and payloads to use good old svcbackdoor. Or just take the nuclear option and re-add/reimplement gspwn like they did with svcbackdoor. Homebrew for non-CFW users will probably take a bit longer, especially on o3ds.

I'm running soundhax but i didn't update yet. Does it still work? Sorry, I don't know what Gspwn is and do I have to update the payload?

Soundhax uses payloads specific to the version of the firmware. If you're on 11.2 and use soundhax successfully before, then it's fine until you change firmwares.

So should I update?
Depends, how crucial is needing homebrew for you?
If you constantly use it, don't.
If you hardly ever boot into HBL for anything really, go for it and play the waiting game.
However while you're on 11.2 I recommend you install A9LH as a safety precaution in case something goes wonky.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo considered it urgent to push out 11.3, to cut off the access to perfect piracy that A9LH+Luma enables. Well, cut it off from newcomers and anyone who did not install A9LH+Luma before updating, at any rate. But yeah, after the Switch comes out, further 3DS patches are highly unlikely. So, since installing A9LH required downgrading to 2.1, I guess the main goal of 3DS hackers will now be, to either find another way to downgrade, or find a completely different way to install A9LH.

I feel like every now and then they'll push an update out, just to mess with us, like Sony did with the PSP at the end of it's lifespan
As for booting homebrew, it's going to turn into a cfw thing for a bit because we're "speshale", that and we can access things that normal non a9lh users can't, so honestly if all fails, at least those with A9LH will def be able to get it soon enough xmx
I feel their goal with this update was to literally just cut off safehax mostly, I mean it makes sense, also what I learned with programming, is that there's always a way around things ^w^

Yeah, being able to dump my 3DS games and install them as digital downloads, felt so liberating. I even dumped a few of my DS games, to use with my SuperCard DSTwo. Was safehax the vital piece for downgrading? Or, will people on 11.3 be able to downgrade again once another method for running Decrypt9 becomes available? And yeah, I don't know anything about programming, but I don't have to, to know that programs always have vulnerabilities, no matter how many times it is patched. Also, a quote from Metroid Prime 1 which I will never forget: "Whatever is engineered, can be reverse-engineered". That's why I just chuckled on the inside at the beginning of the 3DS' life cycle, when people tried to boast that the 3DS is "unhackable" xD .

There were some less unconventional methods to do so, and costed some money anddd... possible needing a second 3ds with cfw already installed xD
This was honestly the easiest method to a9lh a 3ds in my eyes, ended up going that route on my New3DS

If the entire goal of the patch was to cut homebrew accesss then i guess once is back, getting CFW should be back as well? I hope stuff can get back asap just to prevent more scalpers. :glare:

Hmm, that gives me a thought. If I inserted someone else's 3DS SD/microSD card into my A9LH unit, would I be able to boot Decrypt9 and back up the NAND on that card?

I have an O3DS with capture card, O3DS XL, and N3DS XL, all with A9LH+Luma installed. Is there any reason I should buy a 2DS, before all the 11.2 units get sold out?
