Quick question, hope you guys dont mind.
The last time I did anything on my 3DS was when "V2" A9LH came out, and you had to be careful using the right files with the right installer, otherwise you would risk a brick. I never used SafeA9LHInstaller, only the ShadowNAND variant.
Has anything like this happend again? Is there a "V3" A9LH?

So this still holds true for me, beeing on said V2 A9LH and ShadowNAND?

After re-reading the posts above:

This is, what I was talking about. I just want to make sure, that I am in the same boat.
That issue no longer applies anymore. You can update from whatever version of A9LH you are on now to the current. The branch issue is a super old issue and has been fixed for months.

Alright, I wasnt 100% if my cased shared the same problem as MelonGx's. Thanks for the replay.
The issue was really old and was an issue back when you had to compile your own launcher. A lot has changed since those days

Investigating

EDIT: try these builds: https://up1.secretalgorithm.com/#9nWto0_NMY-nziPd5cWaaw
Pick the one for your a9lh fork, or the reboot patches won't work.
There are no splashes yet. It also works from CTRNAND.

Thanks shadownand, if I use this build with 3DSafeARM9 (forked from shadownand) does this offer the same protection Luma does, i.e. can update through system settings, retain A9LH?

Sorry for the redundant questions...

I'm not sure about 3DSafeARM9. As long as you're running Luma on top of it, you should be fine.

Yes, I was indeed able to upgrade to 11.3 with Luma.
Was hoping to give your cfw a go, just not sure if it protects firm1&firm0.

SaltFW does protect Firms. It does everything Luma does, except for emunand and config, and splashes at the moment.
thank you. So why are you unsure about 3DSafe? Just curious:) Where do you think it could fall short?

I didn't write 3DSafe, and I didn't check the source. 3DSafe isn't mine.

Thanks, okay, so I should be okay than... I guess its unlikely for 3DSafe to undo protections you've put in place with your cfw? At least I hope not..

Sorry man! I really like the 3DSafe arm9, it's too bad it got dumped.. Its forked from shadownand, think you may try to re-invent its functionality in the future? I know your busy.

I'm against the "PIN IN NAND" thing, it's very easy to brick that way, and I won't be a part of that. There's a reason why ShadowNAND comes with 2 stage2s instead of just 1.

I hardbricked my N3DS yesterday to a freak accident (don't even know what went wrong), and I don't have the resources to get it fixed. With the addition of very busy real life, I think it's time for me to say good bye to the scene as a developer. If anybody wants to continue SaltFW, PM me and we can work something out.

Thank you for all the support.

If you want to shoot me a PM, I might be able to help troubleshoot (if you are interested.) I've seen many a "brick" that just turned out to be a loose part or something simple.

If you live local I'll be more then happy to unbrick it using a temp hardmod as long as you can provide the nand file.

I'm 100% sure it's a brick as I tried taking out SD and tried DPAD_DOWN etc. Nothing worked.

Sadly I don't live in UK right now, so it's not possible :/ Maybe in the future I'll take you up on your offer though.
