Morning all. I was going to attempt to softmod the Vwii side of my sons Wii-U and stumbled across this new method.

Was wondering if you still need to install priiloader afterwards? Also, in regards to Nintendont, do you need the GC discs or can you play downloaded backups somehow?

Thanks.

You don't need priiloader and you can use your backups with nintendont. No need for discs

Oh I'm well out of date, read the tutorial for softmodding vwii with disc and priiloader wasn't even mentioned.

I've already softmodded the Wii-u for use with HDD. If I follow the guide at the start of this post, is their any additional steps I should take or is it just simply follow guide and done?

Just follow this Guide and you are good to go :)

As I've saw, priiloader bricks the vWii, that's why it's not mentioned nor used.

EDIT: I figured out where I was going wrong, but I have a new question.

Now I've installed wuphax, is the Mii Channel permanently replaced until I restore it? So I don't have to go through the process again? I use the loadiine.ovh softmod.

Also, can I use my HDD from my old Wii, with all its games and saves, on the Wii U?

Thanks in advance.

you NEED to restore the mii channel back !

Please follow the tutorials you read completely. Do not think half the job is enough or that you can mix guides together before completing them.
The things are there for a reason.

the "replaced Mii channel" is NOT the hack. it's not what allows you to launch homebrew on vWii.
it's only a replacement of the game disc exploit, which boots the "installation" of the homebrew channel, and you need to replace the mii channel back before using vWii normaly.
you don't need to run the "installation" process ever again.
Homebrew channel is already installed, you just run the channel from the system menu.
The Mii channel is used to edit your mii, and can be problematic if you don't restore the original executable.

Also, can I use my HDD from my old Wii, with all its games and saves, on the Wii U?
Yes.
Attention, if you plug your FAT32 HDD while you are still in WiiU Mode, it will ask you to format the drive.
never format it !
There is a Wii homebrew (and a Windows application) you can use to hide the drive from the WiiU and any other devices except the vWii homebrew : UStealth

Oh, and you'll also probably need additional USB power if your drive is not externally powered. The WiiU doesn't provide enough to HDD, so you need a Y-Cable.
You should follow vWii softmod guide from here, for example this one, start reading after installing HBC.

Thank you, much appreciated. I would have not bothered restoring the Mii Channel otherwise, so that's really good to know! :)

The WiiU Mode is affected by what's installed on vWii mode.
If vWii is altered, the WiiU can have issues (can't update, etc.), some users are stuck on their old WiiU version because they edited vWii without following tutorials correctly.
You are probably on latest WiiU version already, but it's always good to stay safe.

I have a WiiU with haxchi and homebrew channel working, but I've bricked my vwii from being an idiot... This seems like it may be able to bring a black screen vwii back from the dead...

@FIX94 @Cyan could either of you help a guy out? (Cyan, please excuse that I've posted to you on another forum seeking help)

Theoretically I could launch wuphax from my WiiU and replace the vwii system files and bring it to life... Thoughts? Any directions would be amazing.

Edit- I'm happy to be a Guinea pig for bricked vwiis and would gladly pay it forward.

Thanks!

your vWii doesn't boot at all ?
If you are on 5.5.1, I guess there's a way to fix it with Wuphax 1.0

v1.1 is doing everything automatically and replacing miimaker dol, which is not what you want.
What you'll need is a way to access vWii file system and replace the files yourself, probably IOS80 (not the system menu title, unless you also replaced it with a Wii version).
You might have to fix other files too, like the one in shared folders based on what you installed on your vWii.

there's no "vWii fixer" homebrew for wiiu but I guess it could be made. replacing all files one by one on wii nand. wuphax is already doing it for a single file, it can be a nice base for such a project.

the easiest way is maybe to unpack your own vWii NAND.bin backup that you "should" have, if you followed proper tutorial without skipping a step. that way you'll have all your proper files and won't need to edit them manually to fix vWii.

Another method is to hardmod your wiiu and write the vWii NAND.bin back to the chipset.

Can I do this with a modded wii u. Like if my wii U is already modded to run backups, mocha, etc and I install this will it over write anything and cause my wii u to become a brick? Also I can just install nintendont after I get the homebrew channel, and can I use the same SD card as my wii u stuff is on?

Yes to all your questions. No brick risk. You kinda need your Wii U "modded" to do this. You need access to HBL

So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.

@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)

@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022

Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled

@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.
