Hey guys!

So, I usually leave my Switch plugged in on the dock during the night so that I can bring it with me fully charged in the morning, but I'd like to hear your opinion on whether or not it's "healthy" for the battery or if it doesn't matter.

From what I know it's more important for smartphones to keep it between 50% and 90% for the battery to stay healthy, and that the worst thing with Li-Ion batteries is to continuously drain them to zero...

I leave my Switch in the dock charging 24/7 but regret doing it with my N3DS. My N3DS drops down to two battery bars in just a few minutes of a full charge after being removed from the power source. I can at least replace the battery for $20 though.

Gambia, The
lithium is supposed to be charged as much as possible instead of letting it run dry and recharge

Wait, I thought those were a pain to replace? I tried looking for a N3DS/2DS XL battery but to no avail. I thought the N3DS battery didn't work on 2DSXL (pretty much same size).

i'm charging my 3ds a lot too, and always over night. doesn't decharge that fast for me.
might be a defective battery.
also noticed that it makes a huge difference wether or not a game is plugged in. i've got a hollowed out cart (chip removed) and if i have that in my 3ds, it gets like 30-50 minutes extra battery life and standby drain is reduced significantly.

It’s not so hard to find a N3DS battery, and replacing them is easy. Pop the back and replace.

OT, on every charge cycle a lithium battery will lose a tiny fraction of its capacity as normal degradation. It doesn’t have the memory effect of Ni-Cad batteries so you can charge it any way you like. If you leave a modern device to charge overnight, once it hits 100%, it will greatly lower the voltage to the battery as a “trickle charge” to keep it topped up at 100% without overcharging it.

Laptops with smart batteries will just cut off power to the battery and use that power for the rest of the system. I don’t know if Switch has that function however.

The N3DS has a very easy to replace battery. Nintendo sells them officially for $14.99 plus shipping and maybe tax. Just unscrew the back and you should be able to disconnect. No clue about the 2DS though.
