I'm not concerned with updating. I simply enjoy modding. But I've been around long enough to see how quickly the scene can move! I started hard modding with the original Xbox and PS2 so I'm all good ;)
Wow that is awesome! I'm SO excited to see what'll come of this with the Switch! I'm also super excited to rebuy Hyrule Warriors for the third time! Not even being sarcastic! I'm super stoked! :)

CFW doesn't automatically mean piracy. Many like myself want to be able to use homebrew on lower firmware, while being able to play physically purchased games that require higher firmware. That being said it's undeniable that a large majority are hungry for warez, but it's a little rude to box all of them together.
Maybe so, but I'm yet to be proven wrong however. I been in the game long enough to know when most people talk about homebrew it's for piracy.

Gotta remember though that there are people out there who while like the piracy, do it primarily for the emulation of other systems (like me) or the homebrew itself (like... others. and me...) Also themes and UI customization, etc. Piracy is very low on the list for me.

I know, since I got disposable income I haven't really cared about piracy. Except to test some games to see if they're good or not.

Then there's people who do it because they can ;) I fall into that category. I bought my WiiU after I purchased the Switch, just to play with(daughter uses it for Just Dance and doesnt use the wiimote, but its cute).

I find around 2-3 hours a week for gaming. Yet I have the NES(modded) Mini, SNES(modded) Mini, N64(everdrive), 360(Trident trinand), Switch, WiiU(softmodded) and XB1 all up and running at the moment. I'm not too concerned about not being able to afford games. I just like buying things :-/

What's the 4x fw hardware modification needed? Are they talking about using TX solution??

Anyway I barely can't afford Switch and still don't have one so yeah I'm a pirate or else I would buy a GPD Win 2 and play emulators and a huge amount of pc games... Mehhhhhhhh...

I think they are stating that currently no soft solution exists, but they may have a hard solution. Or they are referring to TX's.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
