Hacking Do not buy digitally from Eshop on 4.X

Even if you have access to the eshop.

Your game will only download if you update FW to 5.0.

Same for previously purchased software, don't delete unless you're willing to update to get it back.

You can purchase/add funds, you cannot download though.

I tried by buying a £2.00 game, this was the result. Lucky I did as I only tested because I was going to buy Kirby but didn't want to waste £50 if it didn't work.

Can't remember, but I know at least 1 member here was able to purchase+download Kirby on 4.X yesterday.

That is no longer the case. I thought I would share to hopefully save some disappointment (plus some people may not have been around during Wii U days ninjad @yardie lol)

When? Because I tried this about an hour ago and it will not download the game, updates for previous games or games previously purchased on the eshop.

doesn't work with demos either. tried to download rayman demo yesterday and got hit with the same message. i think it's still possible to add funds to your account and purchase games, they just won't download to systems on lower firmwares.

Hopefully my Splatoon 2 expansion will download as an update. Thus far my Switch has downloaded updates on 4.1 still just fine while 5.0 is out.

Some people like me can still update their games while on 4.1. I updated 3 games yesterday. Switch is weird.

Spoke too soon. I can't download updates for games anymore. My Switch fixed itself.

yup, tried it multiple times, even after trying the power vol+ vol- combo and going straight into eshop. got the update message everytime after "the demo is now downloading" notification and exiting the eshop, with the demo never downloading in the backgound, no icon or anything.

I wanted to quickly update Zelda and Mario Kart on my 'playing unit' and was unable to run updates on them either without updating, sigh should have done it yesterday lol

My only concern (off topic but on topic) is that my playing unit has my Odyssey complete save on it and I am worried that updating to 5.0 I won't be able to get it onto the hacked one when the time comes, if that makes sense

As far as I know it's come into force today. Yesterday may have been fine, today it's no longer possible.

This goes for everything on E-shop. Previously bought software, expansions, demos.

Be warned, you can purchase, add fund's; you cannot download. Just thought I'd warn people.
