So, Nintendo's E3 event has passed, and all they had to show for it was a water downed fortnite port, and a Smash Bros. game that is probably going to be a port, more or less, of the Wii U version. By this fall, the Switch will have been out for almost 2 years now. Really, the only AAA title that is exclusive and worth playing on the switch is Mario Odyssey. BOTW is on the Wii U, and most of the other AAA titles are also on the PS4 as well. All the other games are garbage games that you can just as easily play on your phone!!! Come on Nintendo. Nintendo's days are going to be numbered if they think porting over all the popular games from PC, PS4, and phones are going to keep them alive. Nintendo's strengh has always been making games that are unique, and different from the typical stuff you find on the other mainstream platforms. 2 years in, and Nintendo only has a few games that it has made in house. Why Doesn't Nintendo make exclusive deals with Konami, and other game studios to bring back modern versions of games like Contra, Castlevania, Marble Madness, Rad Racer, Ikari Warriors, Star Fox, Adventure Island, etc... There were so many titles that were exclusive Nintendo titles back in the day that made the old consoles great. That defined a generation!! Titles that made nintendo who they are.

I'll have to admit that I bought a Switch recently because of the hacks that were released. Mario Odyssey is the only game I will probably play on it. Who knows when Metroid will ever be released. Otherwise, 99% of the other games available to the Switch I either already have on the PS4/Wii U, or they are garbage phone games from any phone's app store. I will probably be selling the Switch as soon as I'm done with Odyssey. I will sell it with the 1000's of other Switchs I saw on craigslist and Ebay, that also came with the only 2 or three games that are uniquely Nintendo, and worth playing.

Said no one ever

This E3 was bad. However the Switch has given me debatably some of my favorite gaming experiences of this gen (Zelda/BOTW/XC2) so I can forgive it. Portably it offers MK8, Mario and Rabbids. I was actually most happy by DBZ Fighter Z, Smash coming is also a positive. Mario Tennis looks AWESOME.

But yeah, no doubt about it.. this E3 sucked. We need more than just Smash Bros. I got really bored of the last one very quickly. Nintendo seem to be intent on milking Pokemon before giving us a mainline game and no Fire Emblem / Metroid / Any niche title which we all want, is a BIG bummer. I wish they'd just re-made Red/Blue with nicer graphics before giving us a proper Pokemon Switch in 2019/2020.
I can't help but feel like they should have just released XC2 this year and polished it up a little bit more.

Compared to the PS4 and XBOX One, the Switch has really not delivered this E3 though. Both consoles have a very strong lineup of games, backed up by some jaw dropping third party titles *looks at kingdom hearts 3*.

I'm still happy with the Switch as once the SX Pro comes out, I'll start playing the third party games. I kind of felt like after the ridiculous 2017, this year would be a low slower. I think this will be the worst year of the Switch's lifespan and everything will improve from 2019 onwards.

Nintendo Logic: People who bought the Wii u won’t buy the switch so we just release all the Wii U games for the switch for 10$ more so we rip of the people who didn’t bought the Wii U, we don’t have much extra work, name it deluxe, ultimate or something like that so the people have to save our company ...

I only say shame on you Nintendo, I bought the Wii U and also the switch, to buy the switch was the biggest mistake I ever made

tbh i still have no clue why every freaking game nowadays needs open-world, i could never finish MGSV because of this, the game just didn't needed open world imo, im fine with closed off games if ubisoft ever makes a splinter cell game this gen(doubtful) i hope its not another open-world game really.
Most of the time it seems to be an easy excuse to produce 2 hours of gameplay, copy and pasted repeatedly onto a 'map' to make out you have something that closely resembles an actual game.

Who needs stories when we can have fetch quests, who needs 20 hours of consistently changing gameplay when we can have a 15 minute 'fort capture' repeated over and over, who needs world building when we can have 'map revealing'.

And worst of all, who needs original gaming concepts when we can have daily log on bonuses and timed events; who needs new games when we can have micro transaction gambling.

There was a time once, when you unlocked weapons/cars/characters etc through gameplay challenges, actual gameplay, actual challenges with rewards. Now all those things have been stripped out of the games and sold back to players for 5 bucks a piece. And people lap it up, simply because a game has a massive marketing budget coupled with some crack like 10 minute attention deficit gameplay loop.

The only place you find original experiences these days is in 20-40 dollar indie studio games, and a couple of console exclusives, so anyone that comes to me claiming Nintendo are disappointing represent a very sad direction for gaming culture. People say there's no AAA titles on Switch, I say good fucking job cos they are all bloody terrible.

Eh? It's only been a little over a year. Smash and Pokemon are coming out by the end of the year, Octopath Traveller is exclusive, looking great, and coming out soon, and eShop is filled with great indies.
And Splatoon 2 is worth noting, it might not be your thing but it's still an unique game that's lots of fun and is a good example of Nintendo doing what they do best.

I really like my switch.
The games it has a lot of fun games iv yet to play and i'm looking foreword to playing them! (switch sx pro!) but yea there E3 felt small and not as big as they made it out to be.
I would have like to have seen animal crossing switch and the new 2019 pokemon preview and a lot more newer games.
I think the problem with the lack of new games this year is the developers did not think the system would do as good as it did and more of the good games are still in development and we will see most of them in 2019!
But with how much games that are out now I will not have any kind of lack of fun with the system at all.

Tell that to Nintendo's pocketbooks. They are making BANK off the switch.

You bought it for the wrong reason... It's no wonder you aren't enjoying the Switch.

No one bought the Wii U, so Nintendo re-released them for Switch. And of course it'd cost more because it's a new game for a new system. No one's gonna buy the Wii U to play Wii U games, people will buy the Switch to do that, thereby increasing sales of the new console. God.

I don't really see how you could consider Smash Ultimate a port of the Wii U version, It literally contains every character that has ever been in Smash Bros (and more!)
We were really only missing 4 characters from the past games in sm4sh which were pichu, ice climbers, toon link, and snake

Almost no one bought a wiiu so for most people wiiu games are brand new games

This thread is a minefield, but I do wanna say that I agree with this. AAA titles ported from the Wii U should still be seen as AAA titles for the Switch for two reasons:

1. A lot of people really just didn't buy into the Wii U, let alone get every game for it. These games being new and untested by time, people didn't trust them. Even if you had a Wii U, maybe you didn't get these games because of the reputation of the console.

2. The new ways to play on the Switch change the concept of those AAA ports. Playing Pokken at home on a Wii U - even with friends or family - is nothing like taking a Switch to school or work or on a plane. If it sounds the same to you, you haven't tried it.

Nintendo just makes the same mistakes over and over
all they had left was MK and SSB and now they don;t even make those games anymore, just port them ,sigh
zelda games have been just ports from last gen for a couple generations now and now even MK and SSB too
no eshop VC once again just like 3DS
what happend to all the NES 3d classics? i was hoping to see original zelda in 3D and maybe adventure of link for the 25th anniversary
but nothing burger once again
just like now no GC VC
OP is right SMO is the only game switch really has
terrible
they have got REALLY lazy
i mean before they had 2 consoles now just one and we are getting even less games than for wii u
looks like MP4 will be 2021 or 2022 and a new zelda ,never
MK9 nope,
all they do is sell you hardware with no software
that shield dolphin emulator is the only thing that can make it worth a fuck for me at this point
my switch is will NIB and my SX OS pro will probably remain that way for quite some time too

the whole industry has gone to compete shit IMO anyways
it's all just crap this E3 was the worst
RE 2 was the only thing there and it is a remake

literally every single other game was set in a post apocalyptic setting , no originality
i am sick of hyper realistic games,i am sick of post apocalypse story line and zombies
E3 was a snore ,presenters were cringe fest city, all the games had ever shitter story
not impressed at all
Good to know there are others out there that will voice thier frustration with Nintendo's complacency. I couldn't agree with you more about zombie themes, and how hyper realistic games is not where it's at. If I wanted reality, I wouldn't play video games. I get enough reality going about life every day. I want graphics that are artstically innovative, and graphics that inspire my imagination and make me feel like a kid again. Couple graphics like this with very good character/fighting mechanics, and this is what makes a game magical or special. Nintendo does this better than anybody out there, but lately they are dropping the ball in a big way.

lol I have and there is some major butt smooching there, I mean I like Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft but some fan boys are crazy. Another Nintendo EPD game could be released tomorrow. Boot it up get to the title screen, middle finder and credits roll and it would be considered the best game ever 10/10 Nintendo Life.

Anyway the Switch does have a problem, why is nobody except mostly Nintendo EPD but they don't count not making Switch exclusives and I'm talking AAA games. I'm sure there some but I can't think of any.

These games are almost all released exclusives.
-Super Mario Odyssey
-1-2 Switch
-Arms
-Kamiko
-Splatoon 2
-Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle
-Snipperclips
-Golf Story
-Fast RMX
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2
-Kirby Star Allies
-Labo 1/2
-Mario Tennis Aces
-Picross S
-Octopath Traveler

There are many upcoming exclusives too.
-Super Mario Odyssey - Yes its good
-1-2 Switch - Do you seriously count it as a game?
-Arms - Boring
-Kamiko - eShop garbage
-Splatoon 2 - same as Splatoon on the WiiU nothing new
-Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle - It's ok
-Snipperclips - Fun but again there are tons of free Puzzle games on the internet
-Golf Story - not my thing
-Fast RMX - Tons of racing games better than this
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Yesp, it's great, best game ever.
-Kirby Star Allies - fun but not worth the money
-Labo 1/2 - really?
-Mario Tennis Aces - not a fan
-Picross S - eShop garbage
-Octopath Traveler - i will have to admit, it's going to be a bomb.

so from your list, only 3 games worth it, not every garbage is a game.
