I too have had no go with this. Every time, error has occured, then I have to delete the app and reinstall. Been trying quite a long time now and just about to give up.

Yeah, not working for me, on 5.1.
Tried with Pokemon Quest, Hulu, and Mario Odyssey, all give the same error: "The software was closed because an error occured"
Tried using LayeredFS and Older Layered, on dice.
This only works for hulu. Hex edits are required to change this. Not sure why it doesn't work. Just clean out the sd card, delete unused files, update old ones. That usually fixes problems.

Thanks a lot for this guide, everything works fine with 5.1.0 (original 3.01. updated to 5.1.0 using rajkosto's guide)!

If you are on 5.1.0, I recommend installing Hulu through the eshop before you begin. I can almost guarantee that this will ban your system if you connect online. This also requires you to have installed this. DO NOT USE THIS FOR PIRACY, SUPPORT THE DEVS BY BUYING THEIR GAMES.

What does devMenu let you do?
It lets you install NSPs.

What makes it different from tinfoil?
It lets you install updates.

What could I use this for?
Installing backups of games you own, or updates. I personally got it to install updates for my games, as I am on 4.1.0, and staying there for now.

Instructions:

1. Download the devMenu zip file. (I can't link it here, but I can point you towards the location. My name is Lunalik Person on Facebook, check my posts at your own discretion.)

2. Extract the contents to the root of your switch's sd card.

3. Insert your sd card into your switch.

4. Boot into RCM mode, and send the latest hekate payload (if you don't know how to boot into RCM mode, or send a payload, look here).

5. Select LayeredFS in the list of firmwares, and unlock it once it is done booting.

*You can skip steps 6 - 8 if you already have Hulu*

6. Open the album to enter hb-menu, and launch tinfoil

7. Select Title Management, Install NSP, then Hulu

8. Once it is done installing, press B to go back, then press Home

9. Now launch Hulu and watch as devMenu loads instead

10. Profit

As I mentioned earlier, don't connect online, and don't pirate. If you are wondering where to get the Hulu NSP, it is in the zip file. Also you may notice that there is no way of launching Hulu with devMenu in place. CFW without Layered will give an error, so will OFW (if you installed Hulu through the eshop, OFW should work). Enjoy :)
Will doing this burn fuses?

But in the firmware if you select anything other then fs_xxx, in guide it says it will update the gc slot firmware?
Where did you read that? Nothing like that was in my guide. If you followed a guide to update without burning fuses (that said something like that), I can't help you. But if you are using a normal firm, nothing out of the ordinary should happen.

I also did the update without burning fuses guide for 3.0.1 to 5.1.0 and got this in the hekate_ipl.ini:
Code:
[LayeredFS]
kip1=modules/newfirm/loader.kip
kip1=modules/newfirm/sm.kip
kip1=modules/newfirm/fs_mitm.kip
kip1=FS510-exfat_nocmac_nogc.kip1
atmosphere=1

Of course you should have FS510-exfat_nocmac_nogc.kip1 in the root of your microSD card (but you should have that already if you followed the guide).
I cannot confirm that the GC actually has not been updated as I haven't gone back to 3.0.1 and tested, but it boots fine this way and everything works.

Can't get it to work.

Firmware 5.1.0

Downloaded and moved all the files from your facebook + https://gbatemp.net/threads/atmosphere-with-sig-patches-backup-loading.512539/

selecting LayeredFS when starting up

Everything works until I am trying to install a nsp-file through dev menu. I have tried with several files but all gives the same error.
I have also shortened the file name off the nsp-files.

I get:
"
[Install Failed]

Failed to install the nsp file. (result: 0x00244802).
"

All help appreciated.

Hmm.
I tried two other files and they are now working. Seems to be the nsp-files after all.
Ill be back if something comes up.

Excellent, all works perfect on 4.1.
I tried Fast rmx and rocket league without problem.
Mario tennis and Inside, without updates, ask for system updates, after updates, keep showing the same messages. It is normal?

So even after a system update they still show? My best guess is to reinstall the games.
