For reference, here are the fuses burnt disregarding unofficial upgrading/downgrading:

System version - Expected number of burnt fuses (retail)
1.0.0 => 1
2.0.0-2.3.0 => 2
3.0.0 => 3
3.0.1-3.0.2 => 4
4.0.0-4.1.0 => 5
5.0.0-5.1.0 => 6

And I'm on 5.1 thanks to the easy no burn fuse guide (using Nintendo's own update system. Not having to fiddle around with the partitions or anything like that).

I was too chicken shit to try that one. Well played, sir.

Trust me, I'm shaking right now because I don't know what this may bring about in the future. For now I have only launched ReiNX (to not burn my fuses) and installed Hekate's AutoRCM. Haven't used Homebrew or anything out of the ordinary. Went online to update Zelda and finally get my hands on my DLC. Dunno if im banned because I deleted my connection right afterwards.

i haven't used online at all since early last summer. i was able to find the zelda dlc and am about to try to install through devmenu. i also made a full backup before doing anything (besides using pegaswitch to run flog a few times) so hopefully by the time pokemon comes out the online ban situation has been solved.

uh.... don't know.. at least on the switch i'm using (I still have two spares so..).. I think it was 3.01 and it's now 5.10 so.. probably many..

but.. more to the point.. is it known how many fuses there are in total and what happens when they're all burnt?

How are multiple responses allowed for this? You can't have 1 and 6 burnt fuses simultaneously on one console.

Its an astronomical number that Nintendo may never reach unless they burn fuses like there's no tomorrow. Remember these things are microscopic so they can fit a lot more than you think.

It was intended for the people that have say one console on 1.0.0 in a box and another running SX OS on 5.1.0 OFW.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

    @SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

    if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

    Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

    @BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
    You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
    still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
    i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
    It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

    Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
