Now some brick nsp files are floating around i would first like to make a backup from my nand.

I heard when u do the nand backup from the SX OS menu it isn't a real nand backup. ( is this correct?)
So i found a tutorial showing how to backup the nand with the SX OS by using hekate_ctcaer_2.3.bin

Now my question still remains will i be able to use the nand backup i created with hekate with my sxos dongle if my system should get bricked?!

thx for the answers ;-)

can't watch the video now but this one I can answer
yes you can restore nand backup created using hekate even if you're using SX OS for your daily use

Make a backup and Use SX OS emunand for best safety, if emunand fuck up by brick nsp, U can delete brick emunand and crate a new one

I've just done mine using the latest heckate.bin, backed everything up nand, keys, the lot. Took around 80 minutes, very simple to do.

Use firmware dumper easy! dump your nand in .nca and then reinstall it via ChoiDujour if this happens. I don’t think this corrupt nsp stops you from accessing homebrew again. If that’s the case just use sxos back your nand up and then use the menu to reinstall it back.

my NAND backup from SXOS only gives boot0.bin, and boot1.bin (and full1-7.bin)
I'm not even sure if there are any other files that are supposed to be.

Probably safer to attempt a NAND backup with Hekate (basically, one via SXOS, one via Hekate), well, the more, the better, right?

Those who keep saying "not a real NAND backup", take it with a pinch of salt. TX haters. (disclosure: I bought SX OS PRO, but that doesn't make me a fanboy).

You can apparently load Hekate via SX OS too.

I made one of each and keep them both on my computer.

Sorry for the n00b question, but I am running Atmosphere v0.7.5. What is the easiest way to create a complete NAND backup in case I get bricked? Thanks

Easiest is to boot Hekate and backup using it.
Thank you. Can I just ask, I will be upgrading from 128GB to 256GB tonight. While I wait for the 256GB to be delivered this was my plan of action, care to correct me where I am going wrong?

- Copy ENTIRE 128GB SD card to my laptop.
- Format the 128GB SD card and place ONLY hekate CFW files.
- Backup NAND/boot0/boot1 or whatever they are called.
- Move backup to my laptop AND my external HDD for safe keeping.

- Put ENTIRE contents I copied earlier to the new 256gb SD Card (formatted to Fat32).
- Enjoy the new upgrade...

Does this sound correct?

Really appreciate the help.

you don't need to put any hekate files on the sd card. just inject the payload from the computer using tegrarcmgui
https://github.com/eliboa/TegraRcmGUI/releases

as long as you don't have any files larger than 4gb then fat32 is fine.

Thank you for confirming. I was confused about this point. So even with vanilla Atmosphere 0.7.5 it's literally the Hekate payload that I need to boot into the hekate options and from there dump away onto the SD card (assuming there is sufficient free space, which is no issue here but am I correct to say the process is "paused" if memory runs low on the SD card while dumping?).

make sure there's enough memory, at least 32 gb free, if you want to keep things simple.
