was reading another thread where people were finding early serials in France. is it just the case that people have more money to waist on switches in the UK?

Has anyone tried gamestop? I will visit them this weekend here in Sweden and check their used switches. Must be a much higher chance that they remain unpatched.

A lot of UK stores are better at just in time ordering & so they aren't sitting on large amounts of inventory wasting space and capital outlay. It's the only way they can afford to operate.

Watch out if you buy a second hand switch that it hasn't been upgraded to 6.2

They're called african-american joycons in the 21st century, dude.

Also, pre-patched is a confusing way to say it, people generally say that to mean it's ALREADY BEEN patched, the exact opposite of what OP wants, which most would call an UNpatched system
Just don't put another "o" next to the o in "joycons"

Got one in local Asda. Yay. They only had a grey one, as wanted neon, so it might be that more grey ones are on lower serials, as I would think most people buy neons.

Now what’s the best way to play backups? Team Xecuter?

Also is there a way to stop it from updating? Are there Nintendont dns servers still available?

Chip it.
SXOS.

That's the basic decent solution.

Or you can mess around with dongles and the open source custom firmware.

First thing to do is "back it up". Back up that nand. Before you even go through initial set up.
Then backup your prodinfo a few times. It is part of the nand but it is the most valuable part. Valuable.
Never connect to internet unless using sxos or another DNS solution.

Is there a chip version? I potentially like this idea as it means less chance of the usb c port getting broken by the dongle.

I have been wondering about this. Do you think we could do the following for 6.2+ assuming RCM works and you buy the tx license.

Boot tx on 6.2 and make a nand backup
Boot ChoiDujourNX (this would need to work somehow via rcm which it currently does not)
In ChoiDujourNX downgrade to 6.1
Boot into tx menu and create emunand.
Restore backup of 6.2+
....
Profit

I am not sure how easy it will be to get HBL via rcm thought

Edit: i think we can use the non HBL version. Ill try it out this weekend

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
