Apex Legends surpasses 25 million players in first week
Last week, we saw the sudden release of Apex Legends, Titanfall developer Respawn's take on the battle royale trend. Since then, the free-to-play game has hit a milestone; over 25 million players have tried it out in the short time since it launched. Respawn also noted that the Apex Legends hit a peak concurrent playerbase of 2 million users, an impressive amount for a game that had no pre-release hype or marketing. Even those who aren't playing the game have shown up to watch live gameplay on Twitch, where viewer turnout was nearly double that of Fortnite. Making further comparisons between the two aforementioned titles, Fortnite's first player count was revealed four months after it launched, where Epic's game had 45 million players. Apex Legends is currently available on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Have you tried out the game? Do you think it'll ever manage to surpass the success of Fortnite?
