So, I have been given a Nintendo 3DS XL.
Before I had a R4i card with some not 3d games. Doing some research I came across Gateway 3ds card and Sky3D card.
I decided to buy The Gateway after doing some research as it was cheaper.
I have received the card and it has not instruction or nothing (Hence why I am here). I cannot find a Firmware or any online help that ''helps'' me to set it up. I am quite annoyed as now it seems as a waste of money tbh.

Was wondering if someone could help me?

TIA

Return the Gateway card back to where you bought it (it's useless) and follow https://3ds.guide if you want to be able to play 3DS games. You can do it for free (if your console is the right region or if your DS flashcart can be used for ntrboot) or for around $2 if you need to buy a DSiWare game.

Wow, it really is completely useless now, they've even taken down the official website with the downloads, so definitely return that. I still have my old cart, though...I'm hoping someone will find a way to modify it, it'd be nice to use with Luma.

Is the DSTwo one of the DS flashcarts that work with ntrboot?

It works only on lower firmwares, shame that they not develop emunand anymore - they probably move to Stargate 3DS. I have Gateway working with my OLD 3DS XL that was upgraded to New 3DS XL with CFW on board.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

There is a list of compatible flashcarts for ntrboot on 3ds.guide...Read it.

DSTWO as far I know is not supported

Stargate was abandoned immediately as well.

It would be possible to add support for the GW cart to CFW but there's no way that's gonna happen now. No one cares about Gateway anymore, and there aren't any active devs left in the 3DS scene to make it happen. And even when there was, devs generally weren't very fond of Gateway and would not have done anything that may give them more sales.

I don't have to detach the bottom of my 3DS when I want to add or delete them.
You can install wirelessly with FBI, and if the cia is uploaded somewhere not inside a zip you don't even have to download it to your pc, you can install straight from the internet.

I admit with the downfall of freeShop some of the benefits of proper CFW have been eroded (you can no longer bypass having to navigate awful sites full of malware and ads to find games), but with the ever increasing firmware versions and the continuing lack of updates, using Gateway gets less and less attractive, so the amount that CFW is better has stayed around the same.

ROMs are more convenient than CIAs, there's no wait for them to install, they don't clutter up my home menu, and I don't have to detach the bottom of my 3DS when I want to add or delete them.
You can organize your home menu in folders. That's one point for cias right there.
I did like the convenience of .3ds roms though. Not as much as I liked the convenience of FreeShop, but it was nice.

Little shame, I like flash cards because they was safer than installing/converting game dumps to .CIA format, sometimes that installs messed up. But mostly good thing was additional storage for games on microSD.

In theory, actually implementing support for the GW red card to CFW wouldn't be that hard. It emulates a retail cartridge, but doesn't use encryption on the communication. It's actually similar to how a Sky3DS/Stargate works, but by that point they had figured out the encryption so that the cart could work on a stock console, that's really the only thing preventing it from doing so.
Besides disabling encryption, you would also need a ROM menu to select games, as the GW cart has no hardware method of switching games.
In a parallel dimension people may be enjoying their GW carts on Luma3DS as we speak.
I code stuff on occasion but I have very little experience with reverse engineering so I would have no idea where to begin to implement that. Otherwise, I would very much like to be able to use my GW cart for something.
