Hey hey, it's time for the first stability update of the year. The Nintendo Switch has just received a firmware update, which brings the console to FW version 9.2.0. Per usual, this is a minor update that officially only offers the typical system stability improvements, with SciresM mentioning that the changes in this firmware are "completely trivial", with a compatible Atmosphere update due later tonight.

Ver. 9.2.0 (Released March 2, 2020)
General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

The meaning of this update is probably just to keep Nintendo Switch in the news cycle. FFVII hype is too much.

if I understand @SciresM correctly from his twitter post, there's only a one byte difference in the kernels between 9.1 and 9.2. I think he said, "that's one hell of a byte."

Retro studios is Nintendo.
In a partnership Nintendo provides money, feedback and deadlines. That's not news. It was the same with the original Prime, with a lot of feedback from Nintendo's Miyamoto shaping the game.
You could say the same about any Nintendo game, rarely they are lone ventures, most of the time many first party studios partner and cooperate.

Are you sincerely arguing that time spent on firmware updates literally takes away from time spent on Metroid Prime 4's development? Even if the exact same people are responsible for both, have you ever worked at a large company? If you're going to worry about the trivial amount of time it takes to program a firmware update, you might as well start complaining when the employees take too much leave, use the bathroom, etc.

I dont really see the problem last update was 3 months ago. I remember Sony pushing out updates evrey 2 to 3 weeks.

Let's just hope Nintendo doesnt pull a Sony and find a way to block the current softmod
