NieR Replicant to get an updated release on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam

Today, Square Enix hosted a 10th anniversary livestream for the NieR series, announcing a new project. NieR Replicant will be getting a new release on current generation hardware. Rather than call it a remake or remaster, Square Enix is referring to this port as NieR Replicant ver. 1..22474487139, an "updated version" with new voice recordings and remastered music. The game has also been confirmed for a western release, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam.

And thus, assuming the PC port isn't of the quality of GTA4, that's another game I can cross off the "Needs Emulator or OG hardware + fan translation (sort of in this game's case) to Play" list!

Iirc Automata had Denuvo (if it bothers you/is poorly implemented) and fan patches, so I wouldn’t delete the emulator just yet.

1. You're talking about Nier Automata

2. Denuvo on PC...where you can...ahem..."bypass" the DRM if you know where to sail...or if the publisher accidentally leaves a Denuvo-less .exe in the files or they just remove it entirely in a subsequent patch, which isn't a guarantee, I'm aware, but still.

3. Fan patches are a good thing IMO. Yes, they shouldn't be necessary, but at the very least, they're an option that not even console players who use homebrew have as far as I'm aware.

I used Automata as an example of prior history, i.e. if it happened once it could happen again.

I don't know what the recent success rate is for cracking Denuvo, Doom Eternal I would class as an exception due to incompetence. Even then, it would depend upon the users opinion as to whether it bothers them, some people may not want to buy a Denuvo game nor crack.

I don't remember what the fan patch consists of, i.e. whether it's fixing something which shouldn't need to be or something 'extra'.

Of course it isn't guaranteed to be a bad release, GTA IV vs GTA V, but I would lower my expectations until it's released.

I beat the 360 version when it released, remember getting all the endings but I legit can't remember anything about the game and it's only been a decade :blink::wacko:
360 version (Gestalt) didn't get all the endings, one was missing and this particular one had some things common with Automata

Holy smokes and here I was about to do a whole series run of the NieR timeline. (Including Drakengard)

IDK...does Drakengard, outside of Ending E of the first game, connect all that much to Nier? I was pretty sure there's plenty of inconsistencies!

I never had much of an interest in playing the OG Drakengard because of it's on foot combat being more basic and repetitive than Berserk: Guts' Rage on the DC which is kind of the first hack-and-slash that I think was made that resembles modern hack and slash games like Devil May Cry and the like!

Here we go again, even when I played it back on the ps3 like countless times, I'm still excited for this one.

My tears are ready.

NieR is treated as spin-off, so they don't have any obligation to be consistent with Drakengard.
