Nintendo advises players to not use disinfectant on their Nintendo Switch console

Gear-NintendoSwitchLite_artwork_05.jpg

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, many people have been washing their hands and disinfecting their belongings on a constant basis. But one object you might not want to be cleaning with alcohol-based cleaner is your Nintendo Switch. Nintendo of Japan's customer support team Tweeted out that Switch owners should avoid using alcohol wipes on their system, as it can "cause the plastic parts to fade in color or deform". Even the use of non-alcoholic cleaners is advised against, as certain ones can still damage the plastic housing or Joy-Cons. Instead, users are recommended to simply use a dry cloth to wipe down their game console.

I pretty much only use the switch in console mode.

If I get the virus from anything it's gonna be my phone. (Does anyone actually clean their phone? Asking for a friend >___>)

Prior to corona, I used to clean my phone twice a month. Otherwise, all I can think about are all the germs crawling on it ala that one Simpsons scene.

Just don´t share your switch in dark alleys with drug addicts and hookers.
If you just use it in private and not as Nintendo advertises you shouldn´t have to disinfect it so often.

From what they know at this point, you're generally unlikely to get the virus from a surface like that, unless someone very specifically coughed on it just then.
And if someone managed to get the virus on your system, you're much more likely to also catch it from that person wether you clean the system or not

Microfiber cloth dampened with some rubbing alcohol, give it a few passes.
Not so much for bacteria, personally, but to keep the screen from getting nasty.

I've started to lol,
But I totally get not doing it, cause no one ever thinks of it. Though you should clean your phone atleast once a day. I clean mine before bed, Idk about you but I let my charge on my bed, and so it's in my bed.

Simpson are so ahead of their time, predicted so many things. And of course, Montgomery Burns, an all time favourite, and most evil character in a cartoon ever, perfect portrait of a foxy the fox network rat.

Seems to me just a statement to legally decline repairs under warranty if a defect happens because the screen was cleaned. Washing it with an alcohol cloth shouldn't damage a screen. It's because they cheaped out with a plastic one instead of glass. By giving a statement like this officially they protect themselves in a legal manner if repairs are asked under warranty with a defective screen
