Yeah far as I can tell, ES patches are required to run most of the unmodified eshop dumps that are floating around...

This seems to be a strange form of censorship.
'Censorship' is the most overused term of this generation. The patches are gone for due to scene drama, not because somebody is violating your free speech.

Things will settle down. Meanwhile, just use something instead of Tinfoil. The existing 10.0 patches work on fusee Atmosphere so people can use hekate to boot into that for the time being.

That's cool. At this point, I no longer care if tinfoil works out not, but having sigpatches available to use installed NSP files while being able to have a bootloader that you can select different payloads is a great thing.

it will not. there is no ams_mitm.kip :rofl2:

You can get Haruko's patches along with ES patches on SDSetup.
link in your sig? Doesn't work for me. I even rebooted my PC and turned on VPN....

It's in the attached file, which has been posted plenty of times. Needs the modified hekate payload too, though (maybe).

If you really want to use tinfoil (which I recommend against now, since this foolishness happened) with hekate, just rename the kips folder to something else, and adjust the hekate_ipl.ini appropriately.

I'm sorry for being a clutzy newb, but can you expand on that please? If we rename the KIPS folder will that negatively affect anything on the Switch with Kosmos installed? And when you say "adjust hekate_ipl.ini appropriately" can you explain more?

Thanks!

And a pox on scene drama :( Always the bloody same, no matter the scene, no matter the year :(

-edit-

Aha, I think I get you. Just edit the INI to change the paths to KIPS for the newly renamed folder? Got it! Thanks!

Tinfoil looks for the kips folder and forces you to delete it.

Oh, and it looks like I have the modded hekate payload to go with it.

Did you even take 2 seconds to look at the ini file to see why you might have to mess with it if you change the folder name? Don't answer, I know you didn't.

Tinfoil looks for the kips folder and forces you to delete it. If that isn't enough information to help you, then you probably shouldn't be messing with this stuff anyway.

Jesus H Christ, there's no need to be such an arrogant arsehole about it. I already figured it out, I'm on a mobile right now and wasn't at my Switch in order to check things properly but edited my post within seconds of making it.

I was merely looking for clarification, but if this is your attitude then I take back my earlier gratitude :glare:

Oh and I was already running the modified Hekate payload, since that's what HBG Shop said to use.

Tinfoil R44 looks for the bootloader folder I think, I don't have Kosmos installed I chainload NEUTOS from hekate, but since this update Tinfoil no longer works, which is a shame, because I love hekate it's very useful in my opinion.

Yes there is. Namely people who don't know basic stuff that end up bricking their consoles. I don't want to be responsible for that.

LOL, Blawar changed it again? What a douche. Nobody should be supporting tinfoil at all then.

I've never bricked a system in my life and the reason why is either knowing what to do in the first place, or asking for clarifications before tampering with anything. I don't expect, nor deserve, that kind of hostile bullcrap in the first place. Thanks, but I'm good now, I was good from the start.

Yup, I've been doing some more checking and it seems Tinfoil is searching for more than KIPS folder. Damned shame, I really like Tinfoil but it seems I won't be able to continue using it, since I refuse to buy SXOS licenses.

At the end of the day, HBG isn't the only place to download games. If they want to force people to use their own fork of Atmosphere/SXOS and block out everybody else, let them. There are plenty of other alternatives without resorting to undesirable measures like ditching hekate.

This may or may not surprise you, but less than 7% of Tinfoil users use Hekate or Kosmos.
That stat is misleading. If your software is actively forcing people off of Hekate or kosmos of course your user base won't have thoes users in it.
It's like saying all the people in my house have the same last name. Doesn't mean everyone has the same last name

Just wanted to clarify some misinformation that I saw earlier where some people thought Joonie's GitHub was DMCA'd or attacked by Nintendo. It was not. In fact, his GitHub is still intact. He only took down the repositories with the patches and Hekate fork.

Most people do not use Kosmos or Hekate, so Tinfoil works fine for them. This may or may not surprise you, but less than 7% of Tinfoil users use Hekate or Kosmos.

Its simple, if you want to use Hekate or Kosmos, don't use Tinfoil :grog:

I mean, it's Kosmos, I'm sure we can can all agree it's not the best project out there, but the fact so little of your clients were running it and yet you took the time to code the them out tells more about you than Kosmos itself.

That stat is misleading. If your software is actively forcing people off of Hekate or kosmos of course your user base won't have thoes users in it.
It's like saying all the people in my house have the same last name. Doesn't mean everyone has the same last name

Those numbers were probably before he booted them out. To be fair to blawar before this debacle any Kosmos user could use Tinfoil just fine, just needed the right files to go around hekate.

Kosmos worked just fine with Tinfoil until the new arbitrary blocks. The fact that the workarounds worked until recently and it's just become a game of cat and mouse proves that point. Trying to push an Atmosphere fork for drama reasons (hence vanilla Atmosphere being arbitrarily blocked despite it working only yesterday), while maintaining SXOS compatibility to not upset the employers.
