In honor of Resident Evil's 25th anniversary, and with Resident Evil Village on the horizon, Capcom premiered a Resident Evil showcase today that offered a breadth of information on the upcoming game, as well as on some of their other projects related to the franchise. The showcase began with a new trailer for the eighth game in the franchise, and an announcement about the second Village demo; Resident Evil Village will offer a 60 minute demo available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia. The demo will take players through the titular village as well as the castle level, and will only be available for twenty four hours depending on your location; North America from May 1st to 2nd, and Europe and Asia from May 2nd to 3rd. PlayStation 4 and 5 players will receive early access to the demo later this month, and can pre-load the demo starting today.

The showcase also revealed that "The Mercenaries" game mode first introduced in Resident Evil 4 will be returning to Village, premiered a new trailer for the Netflix series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and teased an upcoming crossover event with fellow horror game Dead By Daylight. The final announcement was the official confirmation of Resident Evil 4 VR, a VR remake of the beloved survival horror game exclusive to the Oculus Quest 2. Little information is known about this latest remake right now, but it's an official confirmation after rumors of a VR remake for Resident Evil 4 leaked last year. More Resident Evil 4 VR information is scheduled to be announced during an Oculus gaming showcase on April 21st.

Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7th, 2021.

Oh hell yes! I hope it's the full game and not cut down needlessly. The "exclusivity" doesn't bother me since there are means of bypassing that.

There are also rumours about 2 and 3 being on the Switch Pro. And 7 is available in Japan for the Switch but it is streamed.

If you have the ability to play it with motion controls, I highly recommend Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition. It's sincerely the best way to play that game. It's actually the main reason I think RE4VR will be good.

New game stuffs and Mercenaries are badass too. One of my favorite things in RE4 besides watching all the ways Leon could die lol

It seems strange on why they can downgrade the games to play like RE6. I had heard of the streaming I think AC Odyssey is streamed aswell. I have a problem with the Switch because they half ass games. They can downscale the games if they want to. but maybe it will run into performance issues idk

EDIT: I have no plans of buying a switch pro because I already have 4 switches I do have plans on buying a PS5 and a Series-X in maybe 2 years I'm waiting for the price to drop.

Well if it is a full on remake, I'd assume it would be very similar to that.
Although personally I prefer VR shooter controls to any other shooters

There's no such thing as an Oculus exclusive as long as you're using ReVive.

I'm still disappointed about the first person shooting aspect of the game. Feel like it was only good for VR just to shove jump scares in your face. But they haven't even mentioned a lick of VR for this game. (Least it won't be another disaster like Resident Evil Survivor)

Though I'm sure it will be fun to watch streamers play it. I'm not really a fan of the "Survival" gameplay and I don't really play games for "horror" but if the story is interesting then I can at least watch.

I see that Capcom put other resident evil games on sale for steam to "hype it up" Considered many times about maybe buying the second or third remake that came out the last two year. But maybe I'll wait for a better discount of $15.
