Persona composer Shoji Meguro is leaving Atlus to develop indie games

Those that have played a Shin Megami Tensei or Persona game are likely familiar with the franchises' iconic soundtracks, which have been supplied by composer Shoji Meguro since the original release of Revelations: Persona back in 1996. However, after 25 years of creating legendary soundtracks with the company, Meguro is leaving Atlus to pursue his dreams of creating his own RPGs as an independent developer. In a video interview posted to YouTube, he explains that for the past five years, he's been learning how to make games in Unreal Engine 4, even going so far as to apply to the GCL Round 1 Recruitment, and eventually getting the backing of Japanese video game publishing company Kodansha.

This doesn't mean Meguro will no longer be composing soundtracks for Atlus, either; he's left the company on good terms and plans to still make music for their games in the future, just as a freelancer.

Doing this tends to not end well, anyone knows what happened to Yuki Naka after he quit Sega?
On the other hand, you have Yoko Shimomura and Nobuo Uematsu, who both went freelance in the early 2000's and are widely regarded as two of the best game composers of all time.

And judging by Balan Wonderworld is a good thing he got fired. Sure he was only the Director but that makes him responsible. His best work was at Sega unfortunately once he no longer was working on Sega... yuck!
The man has a problem. Gamepads have more than one button.
