The title explains itself, i recently homebrewed my switch with atmosphere and i didnt get very far as i had this SD card issue... so what do you think i did?
THATS RIGHT, MAILED MY SWITCH TO NINTENDO REPAIR CENTRE. before i mailed it off to them i deleted any apps i had on the home menu, wiped the sd card and took it out, in all honesty i did this just out of sheer curiosity,
Now one thing i was worried about was that they will replace the system entirely, so i wrote on everything: DONT REPLACE THE SYSTEM OR WIPE THE MEMORY.
i highly doubt this will go anywhere but I'm super curious to how this gonna end.
i will update everyone on this in the next few weeks.

if you wrote "DON'T REPLACE OR WIPE SYSTEM" on it, unless if there IS something majorly wrong that needs a wipe or a replacement, then I'm sure they'll keep it as is.

just in case, you might have want to put like a sticky note on the console itself or a note explaining why you sent it in (not that you hacked it, but like "it's my cousins, he has some really important games, and if they're wiped, he'll cry a bunch")

should be fine tho.

YOOO NICE, I wanted a v2 anyway, my switch is like a grandpa bro, only reason i modded my switch was to change my acnh characters name, so if they send me back a unmoddable switch but with my accounts and save data transferred, then ill be fine

(WAIT NEVERMIND BRO, THEYLL GET RID OF THE SICK BOOTLEG ANIMAL CROSSING STICKERS I HAD ON THE BACK THIS IS A DISASTER)

I sent mine in before and they just swapped the motherboard so you might end up with a patched unit, they didn't transfer any data across either

Just wondering what would happen if you send one with a modchip installed? And with a bunch of pirated games?
pretty sure the second they inspect that system there will be like 1000 red flags lmao, what they will do is either replace it or just send it back free of charge without any repairs, although I'm just guessing this part

Well you would've broke the user agreement so...
Quoting from ifixit website:

Under US law, these are the actions that do not void your warranty:
- Modifications or improvements (like painting the case of a device or upgrading its software), as long as those improvements don’t damage the product
- Performing an upgrade that requires opening the device (like adding more RAM, or a bigger hard drive), as long as you don’t damage the product while opening it
- Repairs to fix accidental damage (like a broken screen), so long as the repair doesn’t damage other components
- Casual disassembly and tinkering for curiosity’s sake, as long as you don’t break anything in the device

So in theory if I send in a modded switch to service it's broken wifi chip, they have to do it..
Anyway just some dumb idea went through my mind when reading this post. I'd say they'd ask you for your modder's information and sue their ass.

Installing a modchip is circumvention of technological measures, that's a definite void
