    Just received a booklet about the 2023 Aussie Referendum, to add an "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice" to the Constitution - why? We don't know who'll be on it, or what the effects of this permanent action will be, and we certainly don't need more bureaucracy or even more divide between people.

    If we had actual fucking details about this "Voice" group, then maybe I'd view it more positively, but so far...no thanks. We already recognise the Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders, very much so; we don't need this massive, permanent, mysterious group potentially wrecking things. It's far too risky as it currently stands.

    (We recognise them before every big work meeting or school assembly, by 'recognising Elders past, present and coming' and 'we stand on X region land' - not the exact wording, of course, but close enough. Not to mention National Sorry Day in May, every year, and other efforts)

    Can you mod games on a Steam Deck or ROG Ally? Do either of them support Cheat Engine or WeMod?

    If you can do something on Windows, you can do it on the Ally. Same for the Deck in terms of Linux, though I'm not certain if non-workshop mods work out of the box with the Deck's game mode thing. You can definitely do it from the desktop side though.

    I don't really see the appeal of "grass-touching"; in my experience, grass can be itchy and uncomfortable, and cut grass *reeks* something awful. Also risk of ants.

    Nah, man, I'd rather be indoors, thanks.

    Why is Nintendo so keen on making new entries *lesser* than previous ones? AC, Pokémon, Legend of Zelda, Mario, Switch Online compared to Virtual Console...even Xenoblade Chronicles.

    I'm honestly curious - why do (mainly but not exclusively) women like having long, often pointy, nails? Don't those things get in the way and frustrate you?
    If the answer is "they look good"...err, taste is subjective, but no they don't? Not at all?

    A considerably younger me once picked up a sibling from a friend's house, there the older sister (then in her 20s) was noting that having worn high heels for so long her tendons had shrunk to the point where flat shoes were no longer an option... I already viewed fashion with suspicion but that day cemented it.

    They look nice I dunno... also function as a backup screwdriver and you can work with tape easier. Having pointy nails or just slightly too long nails in general is annoying though because you can't make a fist or type easily or hold VR controllers safely or anything

    I'll let my nails grow for 2 weeks, sometimes 3, but there's eventually a point around then where your nails get too long and very quickly become much more of a negative than a positive

    So...what do you guys think of the Flash movie? I definitely enjoyed it; with prior knowledge of Flashpoint, I enjoyed seeing what they kept, and what they changed to make it distinct - and the various Supermen in the finale, and the various Batmen, was a fantastic tribute to their storied history.

    Sure, it wasn't the perfect Barry Allen - he's not nearly as personable and well-loved by the common folk as the DCAU version - but Ezra's Barry is still decently good. His younger, not-tainted-by-loss self is annoying, but believable, too - he hasn't had the loss, nor the training time or mentorship, to be an actual hero, so he's understandably quite bad at it, and emotionally immature as well.

    I was hoping Eobard Thawne would make an appearance, as he's an integral part of the Flash lore, but...ah well. He would need explanation, considering who he is, and there's not enough time for that.
    It's also farewell to Affleck-Wayne, and...eh, honestly it's for the best, I feel. He never really understood the character, his worldview and personality.

    @RichardTheKing It's actually fairly solid depending on what you're using it for. For example most standard EXEs work fairly well, I've used a variety of Save Editors and Cheat Engines without issues- and as for emulators? Nearly all of them have native Linux counterparts.

    Recently been using mGBA, PPSSPP, and RetroArch just fine. Plus a lot of things just straight up run better on Linux when it's actually made correctly.

    Only downsides are it can have a fair bit of a learning curve so it's not for everyone (which means it's perfectly fine if you decide not to use it), and a lot of modern gaming can't be done yet. But it's getting better in that regard with things like Proton.

    We need more nuclear power plants; they're far safer than public opinion would lead you to believe, and they're FAR healthier than gas or coal plants.

    - Three types of nuclear waste: low-level (gloves and other items), intermediate-level (does require some shielding but decays well enough over time) and high-level (the nasty stuff that requires cooling pools). Out of that, only a minuscule amount of waste is high-level - 1-3%.
    - All the high-level waste ever produced could be buried in just one football field-sized space; nuclear plants are that efficient.

    - The vast majority of nuclear waste has incredibly short half-lives, to the point it can safely decay on-premises within 100 days.
    - Compare this to coal plants, which are the single largest source of mercury pollution, which never decays to harmlessness and isn't even contained.
    - Nuclear waste isn't 'green goo'; it's mixed in with cement and glass to create as inert a substance as possible..

    If you posted at least one sentence why I should watch the video, I would have done it. Throwing a video link at me like a bone at a dog isn't nice. ;)
    In most(!) cases the content of a 20 minute video is equal to a five minute read.

    The Star Wars sequels lack soul by a long metric as well, damn Bob "corporate slaver" Iger for promoting Kathleen "gynocentrist" Kennedy to CEO of Lucasfilm and completely throwing away George's original outlines and erasing the old EU from canon.

    @K3Nv2 I got some cheapies at wallys, that are pretty good, already have lost a few expensive ones (one falls out and gone, can't find) while cutting grass so bought some cheap ones, and of course never lose these cheap ones. (Cheap meaning only $35, compared to air buds which I only have 1 of 2 now)
