So I'm trying to backup all of my SD2vita SD card content from the card to PC. So the obviously thing to do would be to open vitashell, press "START" and switch the select button from FTP to USB mode and then press "Select" and then done right?

Apparently the select button NO MATTER if I switch it to USB mode, keeps turning on FTP mode, and when I press Start again to see the main settings, Vitashell keeps switching back to FTP mode even though I switched it to usb, it will not save the select button setting to USB.

I tried restarting the vitashell app after switching to usb mode but pressing the select button STILL only brings up FTP mode. I cannot get vitashell to use USB mode for some stupid reason.

[TUT]How to use USB drive as a ux0: memory card on PSTV
USB Drive - External powered USB HDD, pendrive, USB Stick
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/tut-how-to-use-usb-drive-as-a-ux0-memory-card-on-pstv.13186/

let say USB is working hocus pocus a bit.... its need mounted, when disconect its damage all data.
There are also other mounting tools somewher, I had stop testing it, but working somehow.
Uhhh... they're saying you can't connect from the USB port to transmit data from something like a PC like the handheld Vita can.
This is completely different than what you're suggesting here (using USB storage on the PSTV).

Use a flash drive in the PSTV USB port or use FTP.

What RealYoti said.

Wouldn't the obvious thing be to remove the SD card and use an SD card reader?
AHH the PSTV actually cannot connect to PC through USB directly. Okay that explains a lot then. I thought it would work the exact same as the PSVita.

And yea that was my very first idea, but it doesn't show the entire "content" of the micro sd card since the games and such are in a different "mount".

okay but since I'm stuck with using a usb flash drive or FTP, I noticed the speed is horrendously slow with the PSTV. Is that normal or Do I need to fix something within the PSTV or SD2vita?

Did you enable see system files/hidden files? I think by default, Henkaku sets folders as system files. Those are usually invisible. The sd card is in exfat, so all the files should be there.

Only reason to ever use Vitashell USB for backing up is you need decrypted files.

I just unchecked "hide protected operating system files", but it still does not show those mouting points or show the folder that has all of my games in it (which is 45GB worth). the hidden app folder shows a bunch of hidden empty folders, but im assuming thats from the ux0 folder, just unmounted. will everything "REALLY" be moved to the new sd card if I just drag and drop/copy and paste everything from the old one?

UPDATE: Okay apparently upgrading the micro sd card was a lot more simpler than I expected. just needed the "zzblank.img" and bam. everything transferred.

For higher speed, plug the SD card into a computer and back it up there instead, I guess.
Yea that was my first go to earlier, but I didn't realized I had to uncheck "hide protected operating system folders" and flash the new sd card with the zzblank img before doing so. That what made me think "guess I have to do it on vitashell" earlier.

@ RealYoti :
the idea was, use a usb stick or hdd into PSTV and put it back into PC and backup the files faster on this way. since the files are already on hdd, so why using ftp.
thats the question: ''trying to backup all of my SD2vita SD card content from the card to PC over usb.''
but mounted usb drives can not be disconected

the same answer for sd2vita...

So why don't use Triangle menu feature to connect USB slave (e.g. HDD) devices instead of trying to glitch Start menu feature that used to connect to the USB master (e.g. PC) devices? Also, why don't use Ethernet cable for a better FTP connection?
