Nintendo Switch firmware update 18.0.1 has been released

swithch.png

A new Nintendo Switch firmware update is here. System software version 18.0.1 has been released. This update offers the typical stability features as all other updates have, while also fixing a problem some users have experienced with wireless connectivity. As for Atmosphere compatibility concerns, SciresM says that the current Atmosphere 1.7.0 pre-release version should work fine with the new firmware update.

Who cares about 3rd party, right? Who cares about more than 4 shitty games (most of them not even in english) a month on their online service, right?
And it's just rentals, can't buy them (well, not as if you'd own but still) so when your subscription expires they stop working.

What I'd like for Switch 2...

I just want a new Mario Odyssey, not another Zelda BotW, Metroid Prime 4 which seems to be taking forever, and a new Mario Kart game. Please don't screw that up, Nintendo.

Oh, and a controller with analog triggers.

I think some folks have been holed up in gbatemp (or switch piracy related reddits) for too long that they have forgotten that cfw users are only a tiny minority in the entire switch ecosystem. The overwhelming majority of switch owners do not use CFW and are more than happy to receive such updates that they perceive to improve their stock systems. Neither does ninty have any obligation towards us CFW users.

I'll probably wait for the stable release of 17 before jumping in to 18. Also I really hate the whole 2112-0011 being a thing since 17.0

Wonder if it has patches or spyware/rootkit to detect the MIG or similar. Remember when v11.18 of the 3DS software late into the consoles lifetime could suddenly send telemetry to Nintendo and ban your 3DS? That's what I'm imagining would be detecting MIG operation and send the usage info to Nintendo.

I was thinking of that too, hence why some have had their Switches banned from using the MIG.

It'd be funny if Nintendo still kept using the Switch by 2025/26. 😆

Who cares about graphics, right? Who cares about framerate, right?
Well, they probably are in someway. I don't think they are dropping Switch support that quickly even after the next console comes out.

its the internet bro, we have members who have been on here like this place is a permanent thing.
I need my dosage of stability once in awhile, I can't go without it.

I like how this feels like both a response to the thread and a response about making this site a permanent place.

Those that does not have CFW not likely to come here. What can they get other then sadness from this place where everyone ever talk about is CFW.

You have white and black, Nintendo says that this is all you need. Don't complain and be happy, because we'll never get more from them. :)
Indeed. Switch to the dark side if you want additional themes, launchers and so on. :)
Only thing I expect from any of the future updates is to not break any or, at least, not too many things that people need to update to make their hacked consoles working again. if they release something meaningful, that's a huge bonus for us from them, a miracle even.
