Can you trade in a banned switch for an unbanned one?

Nobody is ever going to buy banned Switches. And before you say, no, you cannot unban a banned Switch.
They will if it's unpatched. Unpatched Switches aren't that easy to come by, and often times people who already own a patched Switch buy a second unpatched one to use exclusively for CFW, so they don't care if it's banned.
Welp, I've fucked up and my switch is 99.9% flagged for a ban very soon.

How much does it cost extra to trade in this unit for an unbanned (and unpatched) one?
I dunno, $100? eBay seems to have banned the word "banned" so I can't easily check prices.
If yours is unpatched (I assume it is), it's worth a lot regardless of whether it's banned. People buying a second Switch for CFW don't care if it's banned or not. If it's patched, good luck selling it. Somebody who already has a Switch wouldn't be interested in a second patched one and someone who doesn't probably wants one that isn't banned. It would have to be really cheap.

Yeah, that isn't a patched switch. I'm not skilled enough to install a modchip and while my friend does have soldering skills, they're only basic as of now.

So, have you confirmed that it GOT banned yet or what? You'd be surprised sometimes, honestly.
Nintendo's console banning works in waves. When you connect to a Nintendo service, it sends telemetry data to Nintendo which is quite detailed. If something unusual, like an illegitimate NSP being installed, is detected, it sets a flag server-side.

That flag then turns into a console ban during the next wave. So you do not get immediately banned after doing a fuckup, but you know that you most likely will.

I never said I used 90dns, I used Exosphere along with DNS MITM as was recommended. Those do get wiped with your atmosphere directory.
Thats not totally correct. exosphere.ini goes at the root of your SD card. If you didn't delete it, AND if it was set up correctly then nothing you're mentioning here is a cause for worry. If your atmosphere directory was nuked, then dns.mitm would cease to function though.

The hosts file is located in side /atmosphere/hosts/ so he is correct.

Yeah thats why it's not totally correct. They mentioned they had both—

so if his exosphere.ini was setup properly with serial blocking on CFW it should still be there protecting his emunand, despite the atmosphere folder wipe.
I have no idea tbh. I followed the NH server guide when initially setting it up and I believe that there was something regarding exosphere.ini, but it did connect to the Nintendo CDN successfully on emuMMC upon the folder wipe.

I have two Erista Switches:

One is hacked and banned, used for playing "leaked-early" pirated games and homebrew.

The other I just keep stock, and has never even had a payload sent to it. This way when the next Switch successor drops I have a good bargaining chip I can sell off to help recoup some of the new system's cost. I play online with it (Splatoon 3), and I keep it fully updated.

I am willing to swap ya. I play my banned one more anyway and I will never pay for a game on a Nintendong platform anyway. Feel free to pursue if you wish.

It's a bit late now but for others reading this I would recommend the following. At this point in time your best option is to dump the keys from an unbanned Switch and emulate it. Keep this Switch around and use it for whatever games you want to play online. Booting Hekate, dumping the keys then powering off without booting Horizon will not get you banned. Just don't share the keys online.
