I happen to have a disc of Nintendo Land that's American.
I also have a U region Wii U.

Being the honest and data-saving person that I am, I decided to dump the game with WUDD (because its' files have more use for me than dumpling's equivalent).
I prefer it as a big hunk, so I try to dump it as wux.

The game.key gets dumped, which is great. The disc image.. well, at the 372nd megabyte, I get an access error. Retrying does not help. Skipping.. I skipped 1337 sectors, but same deal, still can't access media. It looks like the ODD just stops. Reinserting the disc makes it spin up, stop (fine). I try reading again, it spins and stops. WUD dumping uses the same logic, so same deal.
Dumping as encrypted installable fails on parsing the disc header.
Going to the system menu, the disc now returns a 150-2031. I have to reinsert the disc (might as well not do anything!), and it'll show up again.

As expected, dumpling has no issues reading the media. FTP shows all contents of the disc (updates, content and titledata).
The game also plays completely fine.

Do I really have to sail the seas?

Dumping as .wux works to NTFS formatted USB drive only as the resulting file will be > 4 GB (so too big for the FAT32 formatted SD card).

Yes, it dumping till it falls and giving a missleading error message is a bit bad but anyway.

So either dump as .app or grab some USB stick and format it to NTFS.

I used my phone as the USB media. Worked well enough for dumpling in exFAT.
Seeing how WUDD sees it too, there are no target media errors.
Last evening it did somehow dump the encrypted content partition to SD. Drive image still doesn't dump.
Strangely, now (from unmodded, didn't check aroma) the disc shows up, but immediately becomes invalid with a 150-2031. Timely in part.

I'll try to get over the fact that I have .app's.
