Hi! So... I´ve known about a case of a person whose vulnerable Switch is facing error 2002-3558 (SORRY, BAD TITLE)

The person who owns that Switch has no NAND copy, as she never modded it

The question is; could she use her Nintendo Switch somehow as we know it is a vulnerable Switch, or no having NAND copy and/or keys makes it not possible?

Thanks!

Rip nand, hopefully its just the cap on the board.

Also you might be able to get enough of from the NAND to get the keys, and that way buy a new nand from aliexpress and install it (or ebay) and use the keys to "marry it" with the SoC again. (Why the hell do they marry the NAND? NINTENDO!!!)

Yeah, my bad; it is 2002-3558. Already asked moderators to change title

She can turn the console on, but receives the error when launching a title, or even while just being on the system menu...

So there is no change to just create an emunand and launch games from it? I mean, like with a CFW, but being stock

Yepp, you need Hekate here. Do you have an "jig" possibly?

Yeah, her Switch is vulnerable, so I could tell her to buy a jig, boot hekate and then what? Make a copy of the nand, create an emunand and booting from it as if it was a CFW but with stock system?

Thanks!

Since the original NAND is shot, it won't be possible to create a sysnand.
You need to try to get the keys, buy a new NAND and reinstall it with the keys. Then flash it with the OS.

Basically this -

In the absolute worst case possible, she needs to buy a new nand chip and restore it with a donor nand only, Online as Nintendo Online won't work anymore, but what ya gonna do?

OH, THIS IS GREAT. I´m gonna take a look and tell her!

Besides, she tells me that she just restored her console and it works now, but yep, I warned her that it could be just a temporary thing

Also, she is now thinking about modding the console, so perhaps this is a good chance!

Gonna take a look at the product you linked! Thank you! ^^

EDIT: I cannot believe this! The chip goes actually inside a MODULE? Wow, Nintendo really did good there (if we dont count the marring part xD)

Thanks ^^

Oh she got it working?

Great but as you say, it might be temp. She NEED to backup her keys asap. If she got the keys, and even better a nand backup with boot 0 and 1. She is safe if it dies.

There is a way to do it with aluminum foil, but it's not recommended.

Is this what she did?:

Initialize console without deleting save data

If your console doesn’t have any new system updates or the error still persists even after the update, then the next final thing you can do is to initialize your console without deleting save data. You may follow the below steps to do this:

  1. Power off your Nintendo Switch console
  2. Now, press and hold down the volume up and volume down buttons. With these two buttons held down, press the power button
  3. This will boot your console into Maintenance Mode. So keep holding the buttons down until you enter the Maintenance Mode
  4. After you’re finally inside the Maintenance Mode, choose to Initialize Console Without Deleting Save Data
  5. Go through the on-screen instructions and agree to the prompts to initialize the process.

Yeah, I just told her to mod and copy nand and keys ASAP, as well as the situation means a chance to boot from SD if the data she gets from NAND are good enough. Let´s hope everything goes good ^^

Thanks for your help ^^

She removed data even from SD, so... I dont know; perhaps she did it from the system menu, as the console failed there too, but could work a while :/

No clue, but at least she knows but to do next ^^

Having a vulnerable Switch is amazing

Let´s hope something comes up for "non vulnerable" consoles too, because many "electronic-trash" could be back to normal

Sorry this "offtopicness", but I´d really like companies to set them console´s bootloaders free once their comercial life are over...

Or just in this case, let just plug it in to the computer. Go to like "repair.nintendo.com" or something like that. And let it reflash the nand if it broke. But nooooo
