Nintendo is the Videogame king for gamers now
Define "gamers now".

Wii U prices in your country are nuts... I'm afraid to even ask how much does the regular Switch cost?
It's because Importation taxes + Government taxes + Added Value Tax + whatever the store wants to earn as net earnings.
A Switch is about the same. XBOX and PS consoles are a tad bit more expensive.

A SNES or NES Mini Classic are 10K MXN pesos here, that's around 500 USD and really the only cheap Nintendo consoles you can get are Wii's, those are around 300 USD.
Old 3DS are around 400USD and newer revisions around 500USD.

Honestly with that money I could build a decent PC.

If the next console is just New Switch, Switch U, etc, then no. I haven't even played the Switch I bought. I got it on a super special deal, hacked it, then it went back in the box. The couple games I wanted to play worked far better on my PC than they do on the Switch.

Erm...shouldn't there at least be a "I'm undecided" post in there? Nintendo hasn't even revealed the name, let alone the launch titles.
Or the gimmick/feature that'll make this an upgrade from a switch (because of course they're not just adding horsepower).

EDIT: I also wanted to add...why would I hate nintendo for doing what they've been doing for years if not decades? Yeah, easy piracy not being available sucks, but that's pretty much a given.
Besides...Think of the audience here. I recently bought Mario kart 8 for my little nephew who pretty much breathes Mario right now. What would you expect would happen?

Alternate me: sorry, kiddo. I like how you like your Mario fix, but I don't pay money to a company that makes it hard to steal from them. :tpi:

As for me? Meh...I probably won't bother. The switch has way too small buttons to be playable as an adult, and for every exclusive game I might like there's hundreds of games I don't care about.
*looks at steam deck* Now there's the good stuff: it has THOUSANDS of games I don't care about. But even so, it has more that I like than on nintendo's stuff. :D

For me, it would depend on the games as well as whether there's cfw. However, it's also a conundrum because if I don't get one of the release models, I might end up not being able to do cfw if it ends up requiring older hardware or firmware.

If unicorn overlord had been a launch title for it, I would definitely have bought it regardless of cfw viability.

I've bought a modded Switch recently and I haven't been playing with it as much as I thought. It's soon to say I won't be buying any more consoles for the rest of my life but I'm pretty sure I won't be buying any other in the foreseable future (at least, not a modern system. I'm open to deals on the retro market).

Depends - what will the launch (and soon-after) library consist of? What are the controllers like?

The first question can be supplemented with backwards-compatibility, if it's brought back, like how I supplemented my launch-day 3DS with DS games (and I could play GameCube games on my Wii).
The second question won't matter as much if I can still use my 8bitdo controller, but it would still be nice to go back to aligned sticks, a la Wii Classic and Wii U GamePad/Pro controllers, on the actual bundled (and Pro) controller.

I've admitted in the past that I initially delayed in getting my launch-model Switch because of the lacklustre library and downright-horrendous controllers (fuck the JoyCons, and the Switch Pro is so much worse than the Wii U Pro), so these are very important aspects for me.

...Additionally, how hackable will the thing be? Nintendo consoles seem to be the easiest to 'jailbreak', out of the Big Three - there is homebrew for GC, Wii, Wii U, DSi, 3DS, and Switch, regardless of update version, whereas homebrew for PlayStation 3/4 is limited to early updates, and I don't know about Xbox - so I'm hopeful someone will be able to find an exploit for CFW.

I didn't support them this time. Someone wired me money to help test their commercial product. That probably won't happen again for obvious reasons, so I'll probably just try to get one used at Gamestop. They already got their money from whoever turned it in. It's not like I'm helping them at that point.

The key is being careful not to show it off. The reason, as per the EU Commission's Report, that every 1 in 5 illegal downloads leads to an extra sale, is most likely due to the fact that people love to brag. Tech: "You know that new Zelda that comes out in two days? Check it out, I'm already playing it." Non-tech friend: "Oh really? Wow, that's pretty cool." Two days later, non-tech friend buys the new Zelda (could have had a free copy, but they like collecting physical media, and they want it to do well so there will be a sequel).

Honestly, I don't know. I don't feel the need to buy something straight away just so I can say I got in on the ground floor. If I feel like it's speaking to me and I really like what I'm seeing then yeah, maybe...but in this economy who knows what it'll even cost?

I could easily wait. We're only just getting a second Switch in our house so my wife and I can play independently.

I'll buy one if I can use the Mig Switch or equivalent future clone Switch flashcarts with it. Otherwise I might get one and keep it sealed until CFW is a thing (and we all know that nuNintendo consoles get cracked sooner or later.
