  • I met someone at the coffee place who has the same hyperfixation on DS stuff as me. It's the only thing I can focus on/care about and I'm overly exited about every little DS related thing (and never for anything else). I think I annoy a lot of people because it's all I like. Finally though I have someone in real life that is just like me. We've met up a couple times and spent hours fixing things.

I don't think I really explained this well, but tl;dr is that we've got the same "addiction" to electronics, we struggle the same ways in school because of that, we have the same attitudes, and we know the same things. He's like a long lost clone (or I'm the clone idk).

Its great that you have met a friend who have the same interests as you. All I can think about the most right now is DS stuff, I like to fidget and screw around with consoles to see how they work. But my most hyper fixated thought right now is DS flashcarts.

I've helped a friend of mine out with trying to get N-Card clones (i.e., DS Linker) to be mountable on GodMode9i, so I can screw around with the contents, which is now finally possible. I've also reverse engineered one of the updaters that were originally supplied on the manufacturers website (thankfully archived on Linfox Domain), regarding a simple CRC checksum check.

Still messing around with photo editing on my new old iPhone. Definitely not great end photo, but I still like how much editing helped it suck less. The colors bleed a bunch in the end but there's no haze and the fainter parts of the screen pop out a bit more.

I think if I took a better photo at the start (maybe by not holding the phone against a small microscope in the air) I might've been able to get something much better.

Though hey, it still probably makes for a decent enough pfp and I've been wanting a new one for a while.

xp showed me an interesting thing a while back. The programmers of the DSi dev app DS Game Card to SD thought that the secure area couldn't be read! Nintendo developers working on the TwlIPL repo. You'd think they of all people would be able to figure it out. Here's a comment from the source code: (CardToSD/src/NitroGameCardToSD.c)

I've started understanding tiny bits of javascript from editing a web music player. I wanted to use it to have a little music host on my site but thought the player needed a couple small edits. I didn't know anything before but now I know a few new and useful things. Also here's my edit vs the original.

I didn't change that much but I still feel kinda proud that I figured it out. It used to stop playing after each song so I made it continue, I made more album covers fit in the side bar, and I made track marks where you can click them and it'll skip to the song you want.

    Also here's the original https://github.com/codewithsadee/music-player

"You can't replace X component, it's soldered onto the board"
Uhhhh rework stations exist? My HP Stream has a failing 32gb eMMC. It's unusable so I want to replace it. I looked up if anyone has made a guide but noo, it's soldered and "impossible"

    Gallery of frustration:

I'd also suggest backing up your data NOW if it's Qualcomm-based, as you'll probably have to format the user partition due to the cryptography shit.

Edit: oh it's Celery, you'll be fine.

Although you'll need to back up some BIOS-related blobs from the previous eMMC before it dies. You probably need to use some external hardware to dump it, as to my knowledge the BIOS locks access to the "protected" parts if you try to read it from the OS.

D*mn! Somewhere we took the wrong turn.
Back then: Remove failed 2.5" HDD(SSD), insert new 2.5"HDD(SSD) done. Same for newer things like M.2
Now: This is soldered to the motherboard. This may be married to something else.

    Go to hell.

Another free apple. I've gotten 3 bushels of apples from random trees around the city. Pretty amazing how much is out there!

What I mean is that if you have multiple apples, so more than one apple, then you have big hands to carry a lot.

It's the "how do you have very large hands to..." bit. It makes sense to say I must have big hands, but asking how I have big hands doesn't make sense to me.

I recently got an iphone 8. I wanted to play music and internet radio on it but everything in the app store keeps shoving ads in my face and has a clunky interface. Really frustrating! But hey, I can't complain since going directly to the stream URLs will always ad free and clean to use. I've got play and pause in the browser and FF/RW in iOS. All I really need.

Also wow why does apple have to have everything feel so restrictive. I could jailbreak but I set a passcode so I'd have to reset in order to do that. I'll be lazy and deal with silly apple for now I guess.
I got a credit card machine! I wonder how much I can cut up a DS lite.

I'll try some other game console later or make it a remote.
I'm fixing an xbox in return for a 1tb hard drive. The poor xbox had a leaky clock capacitor and the power lines got eaten through. Or something like that. I haven't so much as touched an xbox in 7+ years, but my friend who owns it doesn't know how to do smd soldering and thinks I could do it lol. We'll see...

The xbox has been on for a couple hours now with no issues. I think all is good? Ignoring the horrible layout of the wires, I think my actual soldering was a bit better than my average. Though I did finally get lead solder again and that seems to make every job go better.

Finding a 1 hour version of a song and finding out they looped the same 2 minutes (including the start/end pauses) over and over. AAAAAAAAAA now I have to pull out some audio editor again and see if I can make a nice loop.

I made the nice loop. The first 3 cuts are at 1:48, 3:28, and 5:08. I think it's good enough to not be tooooo noticeable... unless you're me lol

My earbuds wore out at the port again. I realized that the audio cable I used at the end moved around a lot, so I'm trying the other half but with sewing needles stuck through it to keep it from bending too much.

Fixing the same pair of earbuds over and over is inspiring me to try new things (some very stupid) to prevent breaking in the same exact spot. It's fun to see how much I can improve it to not break.

You should get some with a removable/replaceable cable. Replacement cables can be as cheap as $2-$3.

    Jekyll my beloved <3
Learned about data files and now instead of putting in the links by hand, jekyll auto generates all the info from a CSV.
    1696299397831.png

I've got ever single program listed here, so I just have to give it the name and it'll make links, get all the info, create warnings if the program is unsafe, etc

As you can see the CSV has plenty of info. I'm really glad I found out about that. My website isn't well made and hasn't been since I first made it, but I keep finding little things like this that really improve it and make it not painful to edit.

And best of all my horrible n00b jekyll logic disappears when the site is built.
