Review Approach:

in my personal experience this game, is probably the scariest game i played growing up. and now i want to share it with you.
Hello everyone welcome to my Halloween review of A nightmare on elm street.
Its that time of year again, Halloween and as normal its time for fears and chills. so for this review i wanted to review a nightmare on elm street for the nes, and let me tell you there is a lot to go over. So without further ado, turn the lights down and get ready to journey into elm street with me. In October 1989 the us saw the release, of a nightmare on elm street for the nes. The game looked fantastic even for a nes title, the game play was smooth and the level designs while a little odd still looked good. The enemies where common fears, like bats snakes and spiders. Now for the scary part, the game introduced a dream effect. When it was activated the enemies would all look like a distorted Freddy. Next we have the platforming, the jumps need to be perfectly timed sometimes. Now i wouldn't have a problem with this if it wasn't for the fact that enemies like to ram into you when you're jumping. finally we have the boss fights, now the boss is supposed to be Freddy however we don't see Kruger until the end of the game. Instead the boss fights consist off, his hand his head another arm. Well you get the idea, after beating all the bosses you collect his bones. Taking the bones to the final house, awakens Freddy Kruger and its boss time and man oh man is he a nightmare. If you are not prepared the final boss can wreck your day, and that is no understatement i can not tell you the number of times i died to this guy.

However after enough practice The nightmare man drops, the day is saved and elm street can finally go back to normal. Despite the fact that this game has aged, does it still hold up today? In my honest thoughts, yes the game is still somewhat fun today as long as you know what to do. The game is short as well meaning, that you don't have to worry about it dragging on and on. so with that we close my review of a nightmare on elm street, its a fun little game and i think you should give it a try this halloween.

Verdict

What I Liked ...
  • easy to pick up.
What I Didn't Like ...
  • repeative boss fights, somewhat dickish enemies.
6
Gameplay
the game play can seem a little repetitive at times, except for the bosses the enemies don't really change all that much.
8
Presentation
the graphics and sound are great, even for a older game. it really draws you into it.
6
Lasting Appeal
it does stay, with you for a while. and even after i finished it, i turned around and played it at least 2 more times.
7
out of 10

Overall

a decent game with, somewhat good game play. This one is something i would recomend playing at least once.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
