Finally we can don our Master Chief helmets once again with the release of Halo Infinite. Part of what makes the Spartan supersoldier’s adventures on Zeta Halo memorable is the soundtrack; and Mondo has partnered with Xbox Games Studios to bring Halo Infinite’s soundtrack in vinyl format.

As usual, the records come in a sleeve bearing some unique artwork; with those in this release having been inked by Ken Taylor. The front cover depicts, with intricate detail, a wandering Master Chief on Zeta Halo. We come across our protagonist again on the inner artwork, in full battle mode against a brute. The level of detail in both artwork is quite impressive and would each easily make for posters of their own. The back cover art, for its part, bears less details but brings a flair of the Halo vibe.

Also customary with Mondo’s video game soundtrack vinyls, there is a limited colour vinyl variant for the Halo Infinite set as reviewed here. While they do share the Halo vibes, especially given that the colour scheme matches the original artwork, they are not as impressive as other coloured vinyls that Mondo issued before.

Spanning those 2x 180 gram vinyls are 22 soundtracks from the game that are faithfully recreated. Composed by Gareth Coker, Joel Corelitz and Curtis Schweitzer, they do put one in the Spartan mood. However, the actual game features more than 22 tracks and this record would have made for a more compelling piece if it featured the full score. So, even if those included are authentic and set the Halo tone, they might get you asking for more.

The composers also share some words in the liner notes included in the package, recounting how they first came across the Halo franchise and their experience crafting this score. It’s a nice touch to include such liner notes and I wish to see these become more commonplace in future video game soundtrack records.

At $35, the ‘Halo Infinite - Original Video Game Soundtrack 2XLP’ from Mondo is a recommended addition to your vinyl collection, given its affordable cost, even if it doesn’t deliver a complete set of the game’s audio score.

Overall

Mondo’s Halo Infinite soundtrack LPs will help you relive adventures on Zeta Halo as Master Chief by listing to it alone thanks to its faithfully recreated soundtrack in vinyl record format.
Nice colors, decent price for a double LP, i'm not sure how long the OST is for Infinite but there's only so much music they can cram into 2 LPs, maybe they should've included with it a CD set with the complete OST.

Oh boy, video game music on an inferior format! There's a reason people ditched their vinyl records when CDs became popular. CDs have much less noise and have better low frequencies. Since most people listen to CDs in their car, computer, game consoles, or cheap stereos of course using a quality record player will sound better

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
