Whether it’s for a handheld console, phone or laptop, we’ve all come across situations where the device’s battery life just wasn’t enough for that extra stretch of gaming, video streaming or simply working. For these purposes, power banks have become popular options and tech accessories manufacturer UGREEN is taking these a step further. Its new 145W 25,000mAh Power Bank offers beefy capacity as well as support for fast charging.

On the official UGREEN store page, the power bank retails for €120 and comes with the following items:

As with UGREEN’s other products, this power bank packs a quality build. While sporting a plastic shell, it doesn’t feel cheap; rather the matte metallic grey finish boasts the minimalist appeal.

All of its ports can be found on the right flank of the device and the sole physical button can be found on the underside. Pressing the latter will reveal another feature of the power bank: the battery indicator. Unlike most power banks, UGREEN’s option numerically displays the remaining capacity of the power bank whether you are charging other devices or are charging the power bank itself. I found this to be more handy than guesstimating the available power from the individual LEDs that other power banks tend to use. Of note, holding the power button will also toggle trickle charge which is a welcome option should you need it.

However, you don’t have to press the button in order to start charging your device. You can just plug it into one of the ports and you’re ready to go. While UGREEN is quick to label the power bank with “145W”, it is somewhat misleading as this represents the maximum combined wattage of two ports. The maximum wattage of a single port is 100W via the right-most USB-C port, while the secondary USB-C port can reach 45W and the USB-A port can reach 18W.

Of course, it would have been welcome for each port to feature 100W charging but what’s on offer is plentiful enough for a device of this size. I found it to be a great companion to a handheld gaming PC like the Anbernic win600 which it can juice up twice thanks to its generous power storage capacity. I also found it to be useful for standalone VR headsets and the UGREEN 16ft VR Link Cable can be appropriate for that. As an aside, the cable is a quality one and you can look into it if you need one for your Meta Quest headset.

UGREEN’s 145W 25,000mAh Power Bank is particularly handy when travelling as it supports multiple device charging at once. The main USB-C port can constantly hit 100W with up to three devices connected to the power bank, making it appropriate to charge laptops on-the-go. However, the power distribution of the other ports can vary based on the port used and number of devices connected, and this can be quite confusing. Luckily, UGREEN provides a rundown in the user manual.

It is particularly impressive in that it can power demanding devices such as laptops and handheld gaming PCs. Depending on your usage, the generous 25,000mAh capacity provides ample power for charging devices several times. UGREEN estimates that it can fully charge a MacBook Pro 14" up to 1.3 times, a Galaxy S23 Ultra up to 3.0 times and an iPhone 14 up to 5.6 times.

This represents a steady power supply option, including fast charging options, if you’re on the move, with limited access to a charging station. If you’re feeling particularly experimental (or brave), you can only carry the power bank around and USB charging cables without the need to carry individual power supplies. I've done it during day trips and, while it initially led to some anxiety regarding whether it will actually suffice, the 145W power bank hasn't failed me in this regard.

One of the major downsides to the power bank is its weight. This is due to its beefy capacity and doesn’t make it particularly pocket-friendly. But this accessory isn’t really meant to be pocketable, but rather thrown in your bag to accompany you during your commute/travels. There’s even a serviceable soft pouch that comes with the device, although a more sturdy case would be more welcome. In addition, having more charging ports could have made for a more enticing proposition While 3 is a decent amount, the power bank does have real estate to sport more ports and this could be a consideration for UGREEN’s future iterations.

Overall, the UGREEN 145W 25,000mAh Power Bank is quite an impressive power bank. While it’s not the lightest around, it packs considerable capacity, supports fast charging and can juice up demanding devices. It will be a worthy investment if you are often on the move as it will provide some peace of mind for your tech power needs; and dare I say, it is a must-have for the tech user on the go.
