Product Information:

Valve’s Steam Deck is all the rage right now in the handheld gaming space. While it comes with a hard case, the latter doesn’t offer the option to pack in accessories. Worry not as WaterField Designs has brought its CitySlicker line of carry case to the Steam Deck to hold the console and accessories. Let’s take a look!

The Steam Deck’s included slim hard case is a welcome accessory that comes with the package. It lets you safely carry your handheld gaming PC around with some peace of mind. However, one major downside is that it hardly lets you carry along accessories like cables, microSD cards and earphones. A more rounded carrying case would be welcome by those who wish to have everything in one place to game on the go.

Sure you can slip your earphones and charging cable in your bag but a dedicated carry case that allows for the storage of the console and accessories goes a long way for convenience. That’s where the CitySlicker for Steam Deck from WaterField Designs comes in.

Designed specifically for the Steam Deck, this carry case bears the following specifications:

  • Material: Full-grain leather, Ballistic nylon, Soft liner

  • Features:

When placing your order, you can also grab optional add-ons and I’d recommend the sling strap as it makes the CitySlicker easier to carry around.

Now, WaterField Designs is known to make premium products with the corresponding price tag. The CitySlicker for Steam Deck itself costs $129 and add-ons like the strap adds an extra $19. However, the price and premium tag is reflected on the quality of the product as well.

When laying your eyes on the CitySlicker your gaze will inevitably be drawn to the double-layer full-grain premium leather of the front flap which feels nice to the touch. In order to protect the console while it’s stored inside is the scratch-free padded lining. Where the screen gets in contact with the inner lining is an extra ultrasuede padded interior pocket.

This ensures that the Steam Deck is saved from scratches and bumps while stored. However, given the textile or canvas material of the body (depending on your choice at the time of purchase), the CitySlicker is not a hard case that will cushion your console from falls or strong impact. You must bear this in mind to better gauge whether this accessory is for you.

I personally like its unique, minimal look that nevertheless allows the user to carry accessories. I can easily hold in a USB-C cable, SD card adapters, microSD cards, USB-C to USB-A ports, my earbud as well as the slim UGREEN USB hub.

Moreover, while this CitySlicker has been advertised for the Steam Deck, it also fits other handheld gaming PCs like the AYANEO NEXT. So if you’re looking for a sleek looking carry case for your handheld gaming PC that lets you hold accessories in addition to the console, WaterField Designs’ CitySlicker is worth looking into.

While it's not a hard carry case that will protect your device from falls, the CitySlicker is a handy add-on to carry your console and its accessories conveniently with a minimalist style that does not forego on the storage capacity.
