ROM Hack Restoring from backed up NAND

Thank you! Looks like I have a lot of homework to do. Just to clarify, the numbers I gave for the ID0 and ID1 folders, do they indicate the motherboard was not in fact changed? What does it mean if both ID0 numbers match? Would I be correct in thinking it might just be easier to just go back...

ROM Hack Restoring from backed up NAND

Thanks @TurboPooCharger. 1. So, I used GMode9 to uninstall CFW before sending it in. I created the NAND backup and then deleted anything that was advised for removal, then swapped the orginal 4GB SD Card back in and kept my 32GB card with all the CFW stuff. When I hold select and power on, it...

Would the tech be able to copy those things over to a new console?

ROM Hack Restoring from backed up NAND

So if those settings and my password, and the MII characters from before were there though, as well as not being prompted to go through the welcome screens on first powering up, wouldn't that indicate 100% that it is the same board/same nand? There is no SD card inserted at the moment. System...

ROM Hack Restoring from backed up NAND

Ok, so this is weird. Just wondering how it changes my situation. I powered on the 2ds, prepared to go through the CFW install again, I'm glad I checked a couple of things. First, I realized that the 2ds didn't go through the first time sign in and new user creation, so I started looking and...

ROM Hack Restoring from backed up NAND

Hey folks, so I was finally able to send my niece's 2DS in for a warranty repair. It had a physical hardware issue just a couple of months after purchasing it. Before sending it in, I used Godmode9 and backed up the NAND. I wasn't clear on game saves, so when I was uninstalling games I may have...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Touche! auto Anyone know what the deal is with downloaded games from CD Keys or another vendor besides Microsoft? My plan is just to start from scratch with the new drive and re-download everything to avoid issues.

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Oh man, I've wasted so much time trying to get this work. Seemed like it would but I can never get it to run the batch file. If I'm logged in as an administrator it says The System Cannot Find The Path Specified. If I'm not logged in as admin I can get further in the process but then at a...

ROM Hack [Release] Ultimate GBA VC Injector for 3DS

This seems like a great tool. Confused though, what kind of settings should I be setting for FFVI Advance, especially regarding sram (save?) There exists a few patches for this rom that fix sound, colors, and font. I believe they require the European version. Do I have to use some sort of...

Gaming Can a CFW N3DS do anything the DS Lite can do without the need for flash carts?

Man, it doesn't seem like there is any easy way of emulating FFVI on the go effectively (GBA, DS, or 3DS) aside from owning the cartridge, which like I said, I"m nervous about because of corrupted saves on such an old cartridge.

Gaming Can a CFW N3DS do anything the DS Lite can do without the need for flash carts?

Ok, thanks. So in the case of FFVI I may be better off going with SNES emulation then. I'm guessing that game will have slowdown as a GBA title. Quick question: When you say native, you mean the rom duties are performed by the flash cart itself right? It has its own RAM correct?

Gaming Can a CFW N3DS do anything the DS Lite can do without the need for flash carts?

At the time I didn't because he had accidentally updated to 11.1.0-34U and it didn't seem as easy to roll it back. Is it different now? I have Luma3DS on mine, but my version was lower when I did the process. This may just be the best way, though I heard there was a recent ban wave that made...

Gaming Can a CFW N3DS do anything the DS Lite can do without the need for flash carts?

I ask because here's my situation: I have a CFW N3DS, my son has a N3DS XL (without CFW). On my end I had been wanting to play Spirit Tracks (DS), Chrono Trigger (DS), and FFVI (GBA). On my son's end, he has been asking to take his console to school with him in the mornings when he gets...

Homebrew [Release] freeShop - open source eShop alternative

I think I had just realized my mistake, but thanks for responding. What I did was substitute what was written in the title keys section with ############### is that right? Now it seems to have populated the new games, downloading now, hopefully it works. Wasn't aware of this step when I...

Homebrew [Release] freeShop - open source eShop alternative

Quick question, I hadn't been on since November 11th. I just found out about this Nintendo takedown or whatever. I seem to have functionality but I can't find a lot of newer games-Pokemon Sun/Moon and Yokai Watch for example. Are the files not updating since the takedown? It seems like the game...

Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Ok, I see this is where the newb questions go, so I know I'm in the right place. I've done my share of modding/hacking on different computers/devices/consoles but the 3ds world is completely new to me. I'm interested in picking up a EUR N3DS as the Animal Crossing Bundle never really...

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
