Just went through the 3ds.guide website guide and my 3DS works ok with SD card inserted but if I try and boot without it wont.

Have I missed something or is this a complete software hack and will only boot off SD?

Yes, you are supposed to copy it to CTRNAND as per the guide:
  1. Return to the SD directory with (B)
  2. Navigate to arm9loaderhax.bin, then press (A) on it and select the “Copy” option
  3. Return to the FBI main menu with (B)
  4. Select “CTR NAND”
  5. Select “<current directory>”
  6. Select the “Paste” option, then press (A) to confirm
  7. Exit with the home button

Thats exactly what I had done .

yaa... it's called FBI look in plailects guide, it explains how, just don't fuck with anything else in any nand partion to avoid brick.

So whats wrong with me saying to follow section V?

I just advised not to use anything else to copy it other than follow what the guide says.

When I had first followed the instructions that section did not work correctly hence me asking before trying that section again.

I think there may be a glitch as two of us had the same issue.

You will need to do this every time you update luma iirc
Which is why I personally don't use it. Luma updates way too often. It's really only useful for Kecleon or otherwise tinkering considering the majority of people have tons of installs on the SD card.

How often is it updated?

Whats an alternative?

Well I meant updates as in hourlies, if you use those you'd be replacing it pretty frequently as new bugs/fixes are implemented.

I'm not sure if there is an alternative other than just continuing to use the SD card. What's the the purpose of using a 3DS without one? If you need to hide A9LH, paste in CTRNAND and if you're selling it, uninstall it altogether.

It's not as if previous versions stop working when a new version is released. You especially don't need to constantly update the version on NAND given that you aren't likely to make much use of it in normal circumstances. Otherwise, updating Luma is stupid easy anyway, if you do want to be on the latest version.

I agree 100%. Sometimes you get those people though who have to be on the newest of the new right away.

Ive been there with cellphones.
There is nigthly builds and stables.
If you stick to the stable builds your only have to update ever system update or so.

And as other said its really a backup if the sdcard is broken or missing. So no need to keep it up to date, if you have an updated as card

Hey, so I wanna update Luma3ds using the CIA. I got some fatal error when trying to update. Do I need to remove a9lh.bin from ctrnand before I can update it? I'm not sure is this the reason I got the error thanks.

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
