Hello. For a hackathon I want to control a rc car connected to a pi zero via bluetooth from my 3ds and possibly get a video stream from the pi back to the 3ds (maybe even 3d). First is this even remotely possible with the hardware of a pi zero and is there a known way for the n3ds to play streaming video outside of the webbrowser?

The 3DS doesn't have Bluetooth functionality unfortunately. The closest you'll possibly get to controlling an RC car is the IR port (are some RC cars even controlled via Infrared?), but even if you could use the IR port, you'd need to be within a really small range of the target.

The idea sounds awesome though! But it's dreaming very big there; borderline impossible.

, you could hook it up through Wifi.

you could send signals from your pi to your Laptop or computer, and then all you will have to do is stream from you laptop to your 3DS, sounds easy.

What I was planning on doing. use CTurt's 3dscontroller as a base program. The program will be on a pi and will send the inputs to a program that encodes those into bluetooth for my ntx v2 to use. It will have lag but just doing this because I want to use hardware in ways it was never meant to be used.

you could set your Pi as a Fake-ish wifi Hotspot and then connect your 3ds to it. so you would need like: Pi0 with Camera,
Remote Desktop, (maybe try to setup a VNC Client for the 3ds). and I might be reading this wrong, but 3DS does not have Bluetooth.

It doesn't. I have a bluetooth rc car. I will get a bluetooth dongle for the pi to communicate with it. I know I can figure that out by looking at the nxt developer website for bluetooth protocalls. Currently I don't know how to implement video streaming from the pi to the 3ds.

Ok so you could do like: BLUETOOTH car Connects to PI, which then connects to 3ds with WIFI.
If you could use Debian to automatically show what the camera sees you could connect with like a VNC client.

ok. Thank you. That seems like a good idea. I might try to buy a pi so it has built in wifi and bluetooth so I would just have to get a camera. But seems doable.

For video streaming you're most likely limited to MJPEG - on the new 3ds there's a hardware h264 decoder, but I yet have to get it to run.
