I think I made a big mistake a month ago with my wii
It had been moded for months then I got into installing wads I went to <site> and they had a wad that was wii menu 1.0 dev and I installed it and now when I turn on my wii it has a black screen and my wiimote pairs but nothing shows up.

Ps my wii is a original white wii with the latest version of the wii menu
Wii Menu (USA) (v1.0) (Dev).wad this was the killer of my wii

Edit here is the website
<Please do not link to piracy sites>

Wow, that game is becoming very popular lately.
How many folks have installed that wad this month only? 3... 5?

I'm curious to know what Wii Menu 1.0 Dev is about.
But seems like a puzzle game. Maybe a beat em up? 🤔

Anyway:
Do you have BootMii and Priiloader installed?
If yes, continue.
Do you have a backup of your NAND before you installed that game?
If yes, continue.
Restore your NAND with BootMii. Problem solved.

If your answer is no to ANY of those questions, then there's nothing you can do other than reinstalling the entire Wii Menu.

Weird!!

But yeah, exactly what he said. If you can get into BootMii you'll be able to restore your NAND (assuming you have a backup).

Keep us posted!

No I never backed up my boot nand when I went in to boot mii my wiimote disconnected
Are you at the very least able to access the Homebrew Channel via Priiloader/BootMii?

EDIT: I missed the part where it said you were in BootMii. The Wii Remote doesn't work with it, you use POWER to navigate and RESET to select for future reference.

There must be a better way I don't care if all of it is gone I can replay all my games I can remod it
If there's a hard drive inside I'll rewrite it

Usually the better way is common sense.

Again, and I can't repeat this enough times:
NAND backup + Priiloader + BootMii

If you missed any of those, then forget it.

(Unless I'm wrong since my knowledge stopped at around 2010)

No you're quite right.

I'm curious if some odd youtube have spoken about the Dev version of the Wii since so many of late have installed it like... why?

Pretty interesting if you ask me. There was an RC version of 1.0 that was uncovered from one of the Nintendo gigaleaks.

Another user that kills her/his Wii console and blames an app... Will they ever learn?

But anyway, unless you've had taken some safety measures prior of not using your common sense, you now have a bricked Wii.

Try following the instructions provided by many users on this thread and search for the same cases on GBATemp by other users in the same situation, hope you recover your non deserved Wii.

And even then, with the prices that some of these websites are selling them for, it's cheaper and easier to just pick up a replacement console.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
