Hi, I've read probably about 40000 threads on a black screen issue with usb loader GX, I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, so I have a syscheck here, hopefully one of you can fix it.

If this is in the wrong forum i'm sorry; trying to run wii sports resort, game shows up, i hit play, goes to black screen.

I have:
run the cIOS tool recommended by the Wii Guide for Letterbomb, installing the recommended version to slots 249, 250, and 251
then partitioned off a segment of my hard drive and formatted it to wbfs using wii backup manager, loaded wii sports resort on it, and like i said, it shows up, but i'm just not sure what to do from there. I have the latest version of usb loader gx, loader's ios is 58, game's ios is 249.

You will need to install Priiloader.
The cIOS249 should be in base 57 and the 250 in base 56.
Have you installed Bootmii in Boot2? Because there it is surely not installed in IOS. And if you haven't installed bootmii in one way or another, you haven't saved your Nand.
For USB support the Wbfs Format is obsolete. It will be necessary to use a USB support with an MBR partition table with the first partition recommended in FAT32 32ko, to install your Homebrews as well as your games installed with WiiBackupManager.
To put your Hack back in order, I advise you to use the assistance of Modmii, which will provide you with the essential files and guide you through the softmod of your Wii.
cordially

Hello.:)

Thank you for the sysCheck.:)

If you used the "correct" Guide from

https://wii.guide/cios.html

I wonder why you have different Revisions installed on Slot 249/250 ?

Which Type of USB Device did you use (HDD or USB Stick/Thumb Drive/Flash Drive) and
is it connected to the correct Port 0 on your Wii please ?

Please check this Points and give us a Feedback please if you be so kind.
Thank you.:)

Thank you for posting a syscheck, (the amount of times I (and other users) have had to ask for a syscheck is ridiculous)

Try updating:

IOS249[56] (rev 21010 Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0

To:

rev 65535

Or downgrade all d2x ios’ to d2x-v8

Or

Change the usb loading port from port 0 to both by loading usbloader gx (or any other loader) with ios 249 / 250 / 251

Hi I'm having the same problem. Once in USB Loader, I can see cover art and all of my games on the list. GameCube games work fine but I can not get any Wii games to run. Once I click Start I get a black screen, the controller turns off and it freezes there.
Here is my Syscheck

your syscheck report is fine.
even if your slot249 is based on IOS56, that's fine too. 57 has more game compatibility for example with Call of Duty, or musical games, but you don't need to "reinstall" or "switch" the base. just go to your loader's settings to use slot250 by default where you already have base57 !

Your problem is probably hardware related :
be sure you plug the external Hard drive in port 0 (bottom on Wii, back-top on WiiU)
be sure you use an external Hard drive, and not a flash drive (usbkey, usb stick, etc.).

Flash drives have initialization issue with cIOS.
it works while you are in the loader, because it doesn't use cIOS but IOS58, but once you try to boot a game it reloads to cIOS (in order to redirect game reading to USB) and the console wait indefinitely for the drive to init. (black screen)

Hi all, I am perfectly fine running any GameCube and Wii title.

All games are installed on a 128 Gb FAT32 formatted SD-card.

I have a systemcheck, however I am not able to post (new user) and spoiler thingy is not working :D I wil PM if required obviously

My issue occurs when running games from EMU Nand, and specifically SNES and NES games. So I used the WAD manager in USB Loader GX to install my favourite retro stuff on the SD card.

Virtual Console Arcade titles as well as Virutal Console titles do run, however they take a huge amount of loading time (during which I get a black screen. Whilst the diskdrive LED keeps blinking. E.g. Dr. Mario gives me the safety screen very quickly, then with A-button it jumps to Controller instructions screen that I confirm as well, turns black, but it needs at least 30 seconds get from black screen to the game.

N64 Games seem to run ok-isch, though quite some loading time as well.

MegaDrive (e.g. Earthworm Jim), NES, SNES etc games give me a black screen, some then eventually go to the TV telling me that there is no HDMI-signal.

Now I did find info on changing region setting in USB Loader GX, or in the game settings itself. However, it seems as if every game has it's own tweak requirements to make it run. Which is so completely random, and the must be some way to setup USB Loader GX with a one size fits all solution I am sure.

Anywho, I have a faint suspicion that it might have to do with the fact that the TV is 4k and the retro games are not able to cope with that. However, on my FullHD TV with classice RGB cable I encounter the same issue.

So I have been trying a lot of stuff, but with no result.

One final weird note... I modded a Wii for a friend, which was on 4.1E, and this one runs the games ok on my FullHD tv... so I am completely in the dark(screen).

Any solution on this would be GREAT!

I believe your issues are stemming from running VC/WiiWare from emunand. They should work on sysnand. I think using neek2o might fix them for emunand but I'm not 100% sure on that,
