How would I know if its a fake package -It was shipped from Ster Kinekor in South Africa so I presume they have the passcode as they loaded it -should I try 320s as passcode ? I cant use it as just like youtube it require a psn check that must be removed -Im missing the app bigtime on my jailbroken console

P.S many thanks for PRB for asking it here quickly -dont feel it warrant a new thread as I know the clued up guys are on this thread

The easiest way is to load it in pkg viewer, which can extract pkg files up to firmware 5.05.

BTW, you won't have to try extracting the pkg to find out. It will tell you right away.

no, it's an official pkg:

it might be unlockable with an unlocker, but I'm not sure. you can build an unlocker with psdlc. just copy the content id from that right window in pkg viewer.

I only say it might work, since it doesn't appear to be a game, but some sort of video service, perhaps streaming, at first glance. I know that unlocker method works with all themes (maybe some dlc).

Showmax is a video/movie service in South Africa so you are correct its not a game

you have a pm. can't guarantee that any of this will work. I've only tested it with themes, but it's never failed there. themes are like C00 games on the ps3 where the licenses are all generic, and the only thing that's important is the content id.

If it was a fake pkg; you could just install it and dump it (regardless of whatever passcode or 32x0 passcode)

If it’s a legit pkg you cannot do either.

Even a legit PKG together with a known passcode won’t decrypt the contents if opened on a PC.

Thanks Kiiwii this sound like mission impossible - I presume its their original package -this app used to work on psn but not anymore since jailbroken

How did people jailbreak the netflix app as this is pretty much the same type of app

Depends if the app requires PSN or not. Some do, some don’t. For example Littlstar didn’t need active PSN in the back ground... now it’s rebranded as RAD; it does.

In order to patch out PSN, you need kernel logs to see where the app is getting to and which syscalls/instructions it’s using and patch those out.

I remember trying to get Star Trek Bridge Crew past the PSN calls, but it couldn’t be done. Not the same way as netflix/media player etc.

This passcode is the problem - I have given up now. But thanks what you said make sense to me Kiiwii. I wish there was a way to remove passcodes but I know there is nothing to do it - my only way now is to get a psn console to watch the movies and my jailbroken console -a bit of a shlep

V3 is the latest I personally think its also a step in the right direction for less out of memory errors it's a superior menu in my opinion give it ago
