You may have noticed from the screens, that 8BitDo have decided to add 2 d-pads instead of any analogue sticks, to keep the controllers as portable as possible.

The 8BitDo Lite releases October 30th and will cost around $25.

Erm...can someone tell me what that "S > X" slider in the center is?

Other than that: it's kind of weird to have a controller that's about the same size as your handheld. Defeats the purpose of the handheld, if you ask me.

Unlike most, I'm a bit curious about the second D-pad (assuming the quality doesn't suck, obviously). Yes, it'd be awkward to use it in a 3D game, but the inverse also happens: 2D games where they assign some extra buttons on the analog stick's general up, down, left and right directions (for items, mostly). In this case, a D-pad is only slightly worse than individual keys, but still better than a controller.
Oh, and yeah...more portability and no drifting on this thingy. Small positives, but positives nonetheless.

Imagine using this to play fps games.
To be fair: I played through doom 1 and 2 entirely on keyboard. I admit it's not really a fair comparison since it lacked the need to aim up or down, but for that game this could be handy.

I'd imagine it's for switching the left d-pad mode. In default the d-pads act like analog sticks, this could switch it to act like the left joycon buttons. Or it has something to do with the turbo mode. But it makes more sense to me to be the d-pad function toggle.

I love the design and I love D-pads so this is a must for me only minor thing - the button layout is not symetrical and it's bugging me. I switched my left joycon housing with housing with D-pad but it does not feel too good. 100% better but still its uncomfortable because of the position.

Imagine playing FPS games on any controller other than mouse and keyboard.

Yeah looks like absolute shit
Then again, 8bitdo has to make a mistake someday
Hopefully they learn and just give us a m30 pro because god God that controller is good
We as gamers don't want any stupid gimmicks or shitty ideas, just the same stuff but bigger and better

Maybe the d-pads are analog, so it would work like a rudimentary analog stick.
that's giving me some sidewinder vibes
