I didn't say corrupting data, I said corrupting the SD card. You clearly hasn't been paying enough attention to the scene the last few years.
Go and do a quick search on Google, or even here. You'll find plenty of SD cards literally destroyed because of the exFAT driver. And let's not forget the low-quality SD port on the console.

Google it my dude, it's been happening for years. When a seller selling the same product as Amazon wants it to be fufilled by Amazon, they provide Amazon with their own stock and if it's an identical product it gets mixed in with Amazon's own stock under the assumption that it is real.

It's entirely likely that Amazon has now implemented stricter measures to prevent receiving fakes but outside of simply not mixing them it's basically impossible to actually stop this from happening. If I send in a pallet with 1500 fake SD cards on it and make the top couple layers the real ones, I'd probably still make money and nobody at Amazon is going to check the packaging on every one on that pallet (and some of the fakes have packaging that is almost identical to the real thing).

They would have to track which pallet every single order came from (which they might already do with binning) and then associate each seller with their own pallets, which is probably too confusing for their employees to handle while also processing thousands of orders.

That happens with every single console when you plug an SD for the first time. The systems needs to download and install the exFAT driver. Not a big deal.
Format your card to FAT32 after that, since exFAT will mostly ending up destroying your SD card. But download the driver and perform the update first.

Also, staying on 5.1.0 at this point is an absolute insanity, update to the latest firmware ASAP.

I'm sorry to pull this card, but I do software and hardware design and development for a living man. I have a pretty good knowledge of tech and I have been using SD cards pretty much since they became available to consumers. exFAT is simply a file system and due to a number of technical differences from FAT32 and poor driver implementations from vendors, it is more susceptible to data loss/corruption, which cannot damage the card in any way. SD cards literally take a fixed voltage and have communication pins. The file system on them makes no difference to how the card operates physically and simply changes how data is stored across the NAND.

There is no argument here. exFAT has a number of benefits but also sucks because of issues that never seem to be resolved. If it had the capability to destroy an SD card, every single SD card above 32GB on the planet would not ship formatted as exFAT. The reason SD cards die easily is because they are tiny, many are made incredibly cheaply and they tend to get overused because they get put in a device and forgotten about.

If your exFAT card becomes corrupt, simply reformat it and kiss your data goodbye. If it fails any of the SD card tests available on the internet, the card is bad and it would have also failed formatted as FAT32.

People has been having problems with exFAT on Switch since forever because of problems that aren't going to be solved. The op of this thread asked about help with that. Trying to act smart when we are trying to help him will only make you appear on /iamverysmart and nothing else.

At no point did I say exFAT does not have corruption issues, especially on the Switch. I specifically have my 256 GB Nintendo SD card formatted as FAT32 because of how crappy their exFAT driver is, but it does not irreversibly damage SD cards formatted as exFAT..

The onus of proof is not on me. You are the one making a claim you cannot back up...

I backed-up my statement several times, while your only "back-up" is saying I don't have one. If you are gonna say I'm wrong, then prove me wrong.
Otherwise, you are wrong. And you are wrong, we know you are, and you do as well. If you don't show me proof like I actually did, then you are lying. "You are wrong but I don't have to prove it" is not a valid argument
