I opened up my Ace3DS Plus flashcart because I was curious, and two things caught my interest. One is that one of the chips on the PCB is in a SOIC-8 package. The other is what appears to be a JTAG port, with six clearly-labeled pads exposed on the PCB. I get the feeling that at least one of these would enable replacing the flashcart's firmware even if it's bricked. The JTAG almost certainly. And if the SOIC-8 chip is in fact the chip that stores the firmware, I might be able to use my programming clip on it. (TL866+ SPI programmer with a SOIC-8 test clip. It's come in handy before for flashing BIOS.)

Has anyone tried using the JTAG port on a flashcart? Any guides out there?

As for that chip, does anyone know what kind of Flash chip the Ace3DS+ uses, and is it in fact a SOIC-8? For some reason there's no label on it.

As a side note, my Gateway Blue cart also has an unlabeled SOIC-8 chip, but no JTAG port.

Oh, and I don't have a bricked flashcart. I just tend to like having a firmware flashing method that doesn't rely on the existing firmware, as it means I can experiment with it at a low level without worrying about losing the ability to flash firmware. (Same reason I flashed my Ace3DS+ with Godmode9 ntrboot, incidentally.)
