I've played Jazz Jackrabbit 1 on my Wiz with an interpreter. It's pretty good, but the levels are too big.

That's a misconception, the only thing there's a lack of is anybody to take legal action on you. No video game that exists has passed it's copyright period, as the period is the artist's lifetime plus 70 years.

1. The copyright got revoked.

Modern copyright takes 70 years past the author's death to expire.
No modern videogame's copyright has expired.

And assuming we're talking about a videogame made before 1978 (such as pong, in 1972)...

To note the topic, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is from 1998, so it's copyright won't run out for quite a long time.

The only reason abandonware is free to download is because there is nobody left that will actually press charges and issue the takedown notices.
If somebody did decide to, they could easily fine you because the copyright is still in effect, it is still illegal to download.

Saying abandonware is legal is like saying killing is legal if a cop doesn't see you.

I haven't played it for ages... It was a fun game though, both Jazz games were. The 3D one in the Unreal Engine looked pretty promising too, it's a shame they never completed it.

I'm not feeling that great about a 3D one, unless it managed to pull off something like mario 64's transition to 3D. I wouldn't mind seeing a NSMB-type jazz game.
