Has anyone had any luck booting to an EZ Flash Omega from a slot 1 flash card? I'm using a DS Lite with an admitedly cheap R4igold flash card running ysmenu paired with an EZ Flash Omega flash cart in the GBA slot (big reason why I picked it was because it fit flush in the DS Lite).

Both work fine if I launch them from the DS main menu, but I want to be able to auto boot into slot 1 and switch over to slot 2 from there. For a normal GBA game this works fine, but I've never been able to get it working with the Omega. I don't know if this is a quirk with the Omega it self, if my slot 1 flash card is to blame, or if there is some other issue. If I need to replace my flash card then so be it. Honestly it's not like this is the end of the world. The Omega does work, I just want to be able to skip the main DS menu and go to a custom one without losing the ability to use the Omega.

I have tried alternate menus as well, including Twilight, but they all have the same result.

Works just fine when using Wood R4, AKAIO, etc. Sounds more like a quirk with YSMenu honestly, YSMenu may not like certain GBA flashcarts period.

Have you tested YSMenu on any of your cards? I don't have any other slot 1 flash carts other then the cheap R4gold clones to test and I'm not convinced that YSMenu is the culprit. I just need more than "it works for me."

Nope doesn’t work for me on YSMenu, on any of the cards it can work on. I have dabbled in the flashcart scene for a long time. It’s not the hardware, it’s the kernel.

I've been doing my own testing, and yeah, it looks like it's YSMenu and anything booted from YSMenu. The "official" time bombed firmware does work, but obviously I don't want to use that. Dang.

Sorry that it’s acting up, like I tell anyone else, buy a flashcart like the R4i Gold 3DS Plus. Runs Wood R4 and you’d get more enjoyment out of that than you would a time bomb cheapo cart any day.

Trust me, I know. I had an Acekard2i back in the day and I regret trading it away.

Edit: Do you know of a reputable seller in the USA? I last used Newegg.

Edit2: Ordered an R4i Gold 3DS Plus from Newegg.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
